Hi - new to the board and new to owning a T4R. Had to have the stock spare tire mount cut off so that I could get the spare out to get home. Would like to remount the spare under the truck in the original location - so am looking to find out sources for parts and/or what others have done. thanks

I did the same thing, only I cut mine out before my trip, just in case I needed it.
Don't know what you hacked, but I had to take my sawzall to the crossmember that attaches to the chain and supports the tire. If I was inclined to put the spare back in there (I'm not, I'm going to stick an aux fuel tank in there), I'd have to 1) go to a junkyard, get a new crossmember, and weld it onto the chain, and then deal with the existing frozen hanger assembly, or 2) go to a junkyard, get a whole new spare hanger assembly, and rebuild it before attaching it to the truck so it'd work next time.
I don't know if those assemblies are even available new. I doubt it.
My recommendation? Keep it in the bed, or spend 300-400 bucks with a local smalltime fabricator and get a simple rear tire carrier fabbed up. Having the spare under the truck is a pain.

Previous owner cabled locked mine, and did not have the key. I thought cutting the cable was the extent of my concerns.

thanks for the reply - I'm thinking you might be right about the bumper mount. I would prefer to get it back under there - it's out of the way & suits my purposes better. Won't leave it in the bed - need the space back there for stuff. I havne't checked with Toyota yet to see if they have those parts new. Looking for any ideas on how to re-hang it under the truck.

Toyota does sell them new. I purchased one a month or so ago. Forget the price, but want to say around $125. Close to that anyways. If the tire isn't currently hanging, and you are going to junk the one that's on there, it's pretty easy to get out. Take a die grinder Cut off the bottom place. There are four tabs that hold this on. Cut two on the same side. There is a C clip on the back side (side opposite of where the tool to turn it is) of the assembly. Pop this off. Pull the rod out and the guts fall right out. Bend the sides out a bit and you have easy access to the three holes holding it to the cross member. Drill the screws out, and mount the new one.
