Spare Tire Mount INSIDE???

Lately i have really been wanting to take off my rear hitch and spare tire to clean it up, but i dont have a roof rack to put the spare on, so i need a mounting system to mount it inside the rear cargo area. any ideas/ pictures?
Plus i have two twelve inch subs that take up quite a bit of room.

The only idea I can possibly conceive is that you build a cargo box that fits the rear cargo area just tall enough to slide your spare under. Your speakers could then sit on top but you may not be able to conceal them under your cargo cover. Maybe you could lay them on their back or angle them upwards toward the roof....a speaker box limbo if you will.

I was thinking about something that could hold it up against the rear side panel standing vertically

Yeah, with that sub box, you are going to struggle to find a workable solution I think. My favorite idea so far is to do the 1st gen roll bar mod and strap to vertically. Of course my first choice would be rear mount on a bumper swing away, but if you are really set on inside carrier, then yeah, strap it in however you can.

Been wheeling several times no problems!!!

but the problem with that is that i have a sub box so it wont fit. and i am keeping the subs so i was wondering if there was a way to hold it up, like if your wheel was turned 90 degrees. i would only keep it in there for wheeling trip and long drives

Joe,

If you're worried about the gap that you're having between your hitch and your bumper, you could have your hitch modified so that it fits flush againsts your bumper even though you have a 2" BL. I ended up doing that with my 1.5" body lift so that my hitch fits up against my rear stock bumper just like it did when it didn't have the BL.

If you're worried about your departure angle then either mount your spare in your rear cargo area or get an aftermarket bumper with a swing-away. Be careful about taking the hitch off if you wheel hard because then the only thing between you and a dented bumper is thin sheet metal.

Off topic question... what is that guy doing in your avatar? It looks like he is strangling his meat and then getting some white stuff sprayed in his face... I'm sure he just won some world championship... but it looks a little...
