spare tire

I got my **** Cepeck DC-1 rims and BFG 33x12.50 At's all at the same time 3 years ago. I got 5 brand new tires and 5 brand new rims. My spare has never seen the road. It sits in my garage except when I travel in my 4runner.. I am in new need of some tires and I wanted to know if this one would be ok to use?

this way i only have to buy 3 and then I will use the best of whats left over for a spare? Is this a good idea?

depending on how weathered they are will decide if its ok if you can get a picture of the rim mount area and the side walls i can better judge drivability

If it's not been in the heat or sun or weather it's probably not dry-rotted. Check for cracks in the sidewall.

and next time you buy five tires, include the spare in your rotation, dummy.

Depends on when the tire was made, it's already been 3 years since you purchased it and it could have sat on the shelf for maybe a year before you bought it. DOT says tires are only goo for 5 years and the rubber will break down even if it's sitting in your garage.

Yes it will probably be safe but this is just food for thought.

Yeah.. I was told I should not rotate it then i was then i wasnt. So I left it in the garage aired down.. No cracks but I will rotate it in the mix from now on.

Use it and just take a look at it's condition every 6 mos or so.
That fact that it was stored inside where the sun's UV rays and ozone couldn't get to makes a big difference in extending it's lifetime.
