Spark Knock ???

I had noticed a little sort of slight "Tink" "Ping"or "Knock" when I had the windows down this spring and summer when I would get on the gas from a dead stop that I did not have last year when my runner was new. But to be honest I just ignored it, it was quite light and I felt it was nothing to be alarmed about.

Then this past Saturday I changed my plugs for the first time (31,000 miles) now I have no more slight "Ping" or "Knock" just like when it was new. I thought it was a bit strange ........ The plugs looked real good and they were not out of gap by much but im starting to wonder if being out of gap a little can be the factor?

I guess that is a good explanation since new plugs have fixed it. 31,000 miles is perfect time for replacement but there should have been a little still left in them.

There are knock sensors which have a response time that is in the milliseconds, so you should never hear a knock from using too low an octane level.

Usually I suspect a clogged ERG valve when I hear pinging on a newer vehicle, with no other obvious things wrong.
