spark plug gap

everything i read says teh 98 runner needs a plug with a 44mm gap, but the toyota service manual sayd 43mm. if i buy a set of plugs that say 44mm do i need to adjust the gap?

Your engine can't tell the difference between 43 and 44mm. Take either one. Just check that they are all about the same.

44mm is about 1-3/4 inches. Do you mean 44 thousandths of an inch? If you're talking about thousandths of an inch, there's no practical difference between 43 and 44 in terms of a plug gap. Typical wear and unit-to-unit variation is likely to be in that range anyway.

We might have been assuming a decimal...... not many spark plugs have a gap of over an inch.
