Spark plugs for V8

What type spark plugs are in our V8's? What is the change interval?

I think I saw another post (yours?) that mentioned about the LC having different plugs and change intervals even though it is the same engine. I was waiting for a reply to that one because I am also interested in the answer. Hope someone can find out.

I would think they would put the same plugs in the same engines that are rated at the same HP and torque??? But the maintance guide seems to indicate the the 4runner V8 would get new plugs at 60K miles and the Landcruiser would get them at 120K miles. I hope we have some smart guys on here that can explain the difference.

I just sent a privat message to one of the top Toyota parts guys in the country on another site that focus on Landcruisers, asking this question. If he response I will post his reply. I guess they could use the cheaper plugs in our 4runners just to save a couple of $$$, we'll see.

Looks like the Landcruiser and the 4runner V8 uses the same plugs and both have a replacement interval of 120K miles.

Look in your owner's manual, find the plug part # and check it on the Denso and NGK web sites. On my '03, these are not iridium plugs, so I doubt the 120K interval applies.

EDIT: After more discussion on this forum, I pulled one of my '03 V8's plugs. It is an Iridium plug, a Denso SK20R11, so the 120K change interval should be applicable! Cheers.

Damn, that's a good idea. When my wife gets back in town tommorrow I will look at the owners manual. What kind did you have in the 2003 V8?
