SPC UCA issue?

So I just got these UCAs installed at a local shop due to lack of time and noticed a large amount of lube (I think) coming out of the top of the drivers side. A week later the brand new UCA is creaking and loudly popping on a full left turn just like my old stock UCA, do I need to take this up with the shop, SPC, or just live with it?

Sure it was your old UCA making that noise?

Sounds more like LCA adjustment bolts that aren't tight enough to me...

Hmm I hadn't thought of that, I'll have to check tomorrow, thank you for the quick reply! Antman

I have the same UCAs, the lube coming out is most likely due to being overfilled. In regards to the clicking/noises, double check bolts but other than that I had the same exact issue so I greased the joint (why Im aware of the overflow) and after a hundred miles or so I no longer have any noises coming from my driver front.

Hope this helps

I have the type without the grease zerk and I'm hearing some clicking that is driving me nuts. Is there an easy to see if the joint is bad?

Jack the front up so that the tires are off the ground (use jack stands). Grab one of the front tires by the top and bottom and try to wiggle it in and out. If the wheel moves and you hear that clicking noise you've prob got a bad bj.

This is definitely not normal for the SPCs. I've had a set for over 60k and they are quiet. I'm also guessing it sounds almost like a LCA bolt not properly torqued.

I was having problems with my SPC UCA's after install.Took it in for alignment after I installed the lift and it seemed to go out of alignment after a week and felt a "slipping" as I went around corners a week later. Took it back for realignment and it still felt funny a few days later.

Decided to put it back up on stands to check things out. I was feeling the top nut that screws down over the zerk spindle to find a socket large enough to break it loose and it almost spun off, not even finger tight! They were sliding back and forth in the oval adjustment slot. Torque specs are 150 ft lbs, you gotta be effing kidding me!

Download the PDF and give it to the alignment tech and check their work, some are clueless about how to adjust these UCA's.

To avoid creating another thread, I'll ask my question here.

When do I know it's time to stop pumping grease in the ball joint UCA zerk?
Is it suppose to leak the old dirty grease from the buttom of the boot?

I've got these on my rig too. The Instruction Sheet says:
"10. Grease ball joint with an NLGi #2 Grade LB with 3%-5% Molybdenum Disulfide grease. 5 to 10 pumps of grease is sufficient at each lubrication."

I haven't seen any coming out the bottom of the boot after 10 pumps, but I stop at 10, unless I start feeling significant resistance, then I stop before 10.

Yeah, that's what I did when I installed them 5000km (and alot of mud) ago.

But yesterday driver side started making noise while turning a slow speed. Figured maybe it needed more grease.

Now I'm wondering if it's fitted with a "grease relief valve" like on this gif

It would make sense, pushing the old sandy grease out with the new.
