SPC UCA’s quality going downhill

Great videos! Aftermarket UCA’s were needed in my case due to 3” of lift, but my goal is also as little maintenance as possible (don’t have my own garage or space to rip them apart for greasing and what not) so I may just have to budget for bushings and ball joints being more frequent wear items due to off road use.

Were they ever good? I had some back around 2013ish and threw them away within a year after several upper ball joint problems.
I've been running TC since getting rid of my SPCs in about 2014. They are trouble free, but require maintenance, of course. I usually replace the uniballs every 18 months or so and have replaced the bushings once in 200k miles.

Depends on what you prioritize.
Total chaos UCA are made of Chromoly, with built-in or non-adjustable caster and utilizes a uniball. So basically, TC makes well designed and tough UCA.
They do require a bit of maintenance, and if you neglect the maintenance they can get noisy, clunky, and rusty. However, due to the simplicity of their design and the utilization of a uniball, they have probably the lowest failure rate when compared to all the other UCA's out there.

Deciding between Dirt King, TC and Icons. I still don’t give these companies a pass for selling cheaply made crap though. With all the modern engineering tech in 2022 there should be no reason they can’t engineer a maintenance free UCA with ball joints and bushings that last at least 50k miles. Even with off road use.

It’s all about compromises and setting reasonable expectations.
Nah this is just companies getting away with crap because they can. There’s more than enough of a market for folks who need UCA’s for their lifts and who don’t want/can’t pull them apart for maintenance aside from pumping grease into a zerk. I don’t buy that for a second.
Hopefully more folks end up in my position so we can light a fire under their money hungry behinds.

I went with them based on the recommendation from my shop as previously mentioned, so, our trucks will be test mules for these as I have not seen anyone else on this forum that uses them.
Haha. Seems that way! They were quite knowledgeable over the phone and I definitely prefer made in Australia over China so I’m optimistic.
