Speaker depth

Does anyone know what is the max depth I could have for a speaker in the front? If its more with spacers or something include that.

Also would there be any way to install a speaker with a 7" mid?

thanks

its a 99 4runner limited. Stock speakers right now... not sure what brand they are though.

I really want to get some focals or the diamond audio D9s. so just wondering if they will fit or not

My truck (which will have the same speaker setup as yours) was a VERY VERY close fit.

I am using the polk Momo MMC6500 component speakers
the specs from polk are

Driver Mounting Depth
Top Mount 2-11/16" (6.83cm)
Bottom Mount 2-13/16" (7.14cm)

the focal polyglassv2 165v2
Driver Mounting Depth
Top Mount 6.8cm
Bottom Mount 7.2cm

so those would be a close match in size

also, i made custom speaker plates that ended up being 1.5" thick where the speaker mounts.

Concerning a bigger (7") speaker would just be a matter of making sure that the ring fits behind the panel, and that the speaker isnt too deep..

If your DETERMINED on a set of 7" speaker (not 6.5") and they cant fit, look at getting a custom door panel done.

AWESOME! thanks for that info. Yeah the Focals should fit without a problem then. However Im not sure if the Diamond Audio ones will fit. They are listed as a 7"mid however the dimensions are 6.3" diameter and a 2.7" depth. so who knows. I would love to get some custom door panels however they are expensive to have done. I wish I knew how to do them on my own.

the 2.7" depth is fine, thats about what my momo's are.

The only thing of concern may be that the speaker proably will (like mine) need a new mounting plate (NOT NEEDED, but actually made life easier) plus, most speakers claiming 7" / 6.35" / 6.5" are all the same diameter. Look up the specs of the woofers mounting ring diameter, they are probably pretty close.
