jl audio xr components should run for 250 i think or more, the focal access series is the best low end line of focal which whould run the same close to 300 range
well the focals have 93db sensitivity vs id's 91db. it will take twice the power for a 3 decebel increase so... it all closer than you would think.
you cant go wrong with either one.. the added tweet and mid level adjustment with the focal would be nice but the ID has a bigger frequency range... 60hz to 40 hz is pretty significant imo.
i think i woudl go with the ID.. they have good customer service. i like the way my sub sounds... very good frequency response and i can only imagine that those components are just as well made
Higher sensitivity requires less power to achieve volume. The Focals will most likely be more lively with even more clarity then the ID's. Focals are hand made in France, they have pictures on there website showing the process. I used to run the Utopia's then went to the 165K2P "upgraded version". Focals are just plain amazing sounding compared to others. You will notice with the ID's the midbass will be lacking compared to the Focals. The Focals will much more detailed and accurate. Choose the Focals you won't go wrong.
For one MB Quart has been bought out by another low end Company..Can't remember the name for the life of me.. Stay away from MB Quart unless you can find some that are the REAL German made versions... Those are hard to find. Don't risk it.
MB Quart was first bought by Rockford Fosgate, who then took a couple patents and then sold it to Maxxsonics.
Definitely stay away from the new line, they sound horrible. Lizardking, I think the lines you are thinking of are the PSDs and the old QSDs (the last line of speakers MB Quart put out before they went bankrupt in 2004.)
Because the old lines aren't being continued, if you can find a set, you'll probably get them at a great price.
Also, I just put a set of JL XR650Csis in my tC, and frankly was sorely disappointed with the quality. I checked out the JL ZRs today, and they weren't much better. Pretty much anything in the focal line that features that inverted dome tweeter sounds incredible. I happen to prefer the KPs, for the music styles I listen to as the midbass seems more pronounced than the K2Ps. Plus, they're about $100-150 bucks cheaper.
you might want to look at diamond has well i heard a set of 6.5 components speakers that my friend installed in his pathfinder and i ordered them for my runner they were 200bucks
Lizardking is right focal is the best in my book i had them installed in my diamante unbelievable
boston acustics is also very good
i would like to buy these brands but i dont have the $
so ill settle for infinity or jbl
No doubt, focal kicks some serious ass. Expensive stuff though. Like you I stick with lower priced stuff. Infinity has always worked well for me and you can't beat their bang for the buck.
