Speaker issue....

Picked up a brand spankin new 2014 Limited on Monday.

I noticed a speaker buzzing sound and isolated the problem to the front right (presumably the dash or door speaker).

Anyone have a similar issue? Any solutions other than taking it to the stealer? I really hate the idea of them tearing into the dash or door panel

I think I do but it only happens when it's warm outside and during idle or cruising speed. I have not been able to isolate the noise and when I took it to the dealer I was told they could not reproduce, then winter came and it went away. Now it's getting warm out and here it is and I am out of warranty. I'm wondering if it's maybe windshield rattle?

Just had a speaker rattle/buzz fixed under warranty. It was replace by the dealer. No more buzz.

In my case, it was the right side back door speaker. There is a thread somewhere here about it. It's somewhat common, and I think most have the speaker in the front passenger side's, like yours, giving them problems.

It's a shame that you've only had your limited for two days and now this... however, no worries. If you're certain that the problem is related to the speaker(s) and not vibration from the road, engine (power train), or other "transferred" source, then try this. Go into your audio settings. With music playing, tap the "options" button on the nav screen. Then> sound settings. See your balance (left, right, front, rear) controls.

Using the touch screen, move the sound completely to the front speakers. Now move the sound completely to the right front speakers and kill the engine; this will help further eliminate any added vibration/noise. Turn the volume up until you hear that buzzing sound again. Place your hand on the door/trim-panel or dash, in the area where the sound seems to be most obvious (applying pressure), and listen for an audible change e.g., sound goes away, gets muted, pitch changes...etc.

The idea is to determine if it's the speaker itself causing the problem, the door, the trim panel, or something else completely unrelated to the sound system. Hopefully, it's going to be just something stupid rattling around in the truck. I'm using a very high output subwoofer system in my cargo area (four 10 inch subs and fifteen hundred watts rms to drive them), and I'm always isolating stuff vibrating in the cabin, so I understand your frustration, especially yours being brand new, but I'm confident that you'll find the culprit!

For now, just try to determine what is causing the sound, we can deal w/ the solution once it's cause has been established. Hopefully you'll figure it out so the truck doesn't need to go back to the dealer... the 4Runner is very well built (giving exception to the light gauge metal/alloy fenders and plastic trim used :doh, but it's track record is still Second to none! :first: Best to you,

I'm thrilled....they found the problem and were able to replicate it on the first try. It was a blown tweeter on the front left dash. New part ordered and should be done today.
