Speaker space???

Hey guys, I'm looking into adding some 6X9's in my cargo area, and hoping to install them behind the inner walls, near the back of the rear seat. I'm going to look into getting some color match paint, and paint the speaker covers the same color as the plastic wall panel. Does anyone know if there is sufficient space on BOTH sides in order to do this?

you might not even hear them that well clear back there some decent 6.5'' component speakers amped in the front doors sound real nice
 
I agree, best bet is some good quality 6.5 in both front and rear doors with a moderate amp. Better sound quality out of round speakers then oval.

IMHO I like Boston, Infinity and JBL... I like the crisp sound from those, especially the Infinity 4 ways... I have some 3 or 4 inch ones in the back doors and they are sweet sounding for a little teenie speaker.
 
Boston, Infinity, Kicker, Pioneer, Polk, Focal, Hertz. All good brands, they are not in any particular order. The key to good, clear sound is clean power, a clean source (eg. not crappy, pirated songs from your iPod) and staging.
 
i went with jbl's cause my friend was selling his 4runner and cut me a killer deal there running of a 200w pioneer amp there plenty loud and sound good rears are 5-1/4'' with custom mdf spacers

Those Speakers look great! Do they give you more bass than the stock speakers? I'm not looking to blow out any windows or anything, I just want a nice tone with a little bass.

I don't really mean bass.... more like a thump...ha ha ha! My wifes got some factory 6X9's in her 2004 Impala LS that are hooked up to a factory amp that sound real nice. Kinda looking for that same sound. I don't really want to add subs, as I don't want any unwanted attention from the Ghetto Rats in my neighbourhood, lol!
 
I don't have pics of them in my doors but I have a picture of them in the box/case they came in.

They are kicker SS series components I have two 6.5" sets, they are in the front and rear doors. Powered by a Kicker ZX350.4, Tweeters are in the factory location in the front, mounted on axis in the rear door panels, and I have an extra set in fiberglass pods at the top of the B pillars.

As for subs I'm currently building a box for two Kicker CVX 12"s powered by a Kicker ZX 1500.1.

Can you tell that Kicker is my favorite brand:bowdown: I'm even running Kicker wiring :bigok:

Did you have to do some cutting on the door panels to fit those?
 
Nope, you will have to make/buy an spacer for the rear doors, otherwise the magnet will hit the window, you will also have to remove the plastic shroud for the factory rear speakers to fit the 6.5"s.

Thanks for the info, what do you mean by shroud? Not the Grill of the stock speaker, right?
 
You will not have to remove the grill. The "shroud" I am talking about is what the factory speakers are mounted to. You will understand once you take the door panel off, you don't have to modify anything that you can see.

I dont think you'd wanna see how my doors look right now but Ill show when Im' done with it, I have 7" Diamond Audio D9 TDX's in the front and 6.5" Diamond Audio Hex's in the rear (powered by 2 Soundstream Rubicon amps) so with enough work you can fit anything you want
p.s. good choice in speakers juiceboxer :cheers:
