I have an 06 sr5 without JBL. Would I still be able to set a sub up in the rear side where the JBL sub would have been?
Yes, but you will need the factory sub box. If you have the rear cargo tray, youll have to remove it to put the sub box in, which can look a little odd as there will be a gap at the bottom of the trim.

Honestly, It wouldn't sound good. I asked a audio shop owner about that spot and he said you would be stupid to put one there because of the plastic around that area. Probably better off with a wood box in the middle of trunk
How can I get a factory sub box?
You sure can, I used the stock enclosureI have an 06 sr5 without JBL. Would I still be able to set a sub up in the rear side where the JBL sub would have been?

The oem box is OK, it isn't the most ideal tuned box, but it sure as heck makes things seem more stock and gets things out of the way. I did have issues with rattling, so I'm not running a panel right now, until I can hack up my new one, dynamat it, and modify it to work with the sub. It sounds great without the panel though. My install looks so clean, a tech at NTB was praising Toyota for using such quality parts as JL in their systems. I had to explain to him that it was all done by me and not Toyota. :doh:Or you could just make a decent sub box for that location. The OEM one seems to work fine with my JL 8" sub/250 amp as it does for many others.
I know a few members have done it, I wanna say 97BlackAckCL was one of them and he used an OEM sub box and was pleased with the results.
Yes you can install an aftermarket sub. I have a 10" sub with a custom built enclosure positioned on one side of the back using part of the storage bin. Looks like it came from factory and sounds great while not stealing any cargo space. I also have the optional storage shelf that raises and lowers that i can still use.
You should post some pics :thumb3:
