anyone have a clue what could cause this?

My speakerrs are popping. I have alpine components and I just installed audiobahn tweeters last night and then the popping started...

None of the above! Forgot to update this thread, some crap had gotten in the stock HU and I shook it out and it's fine now. Weird, huh?

Sub still pops when I turn it on.

SIde note, how do I tell if I'm gonna blow my speakers? I'm running alpine CDE-133BT HU with apline speakers in the doors, audiobahn tweeters with stock bass blockers (rated to 200 w I believe) all off the stock amp and a JL sub / amp

I;m worried If i use the equalizer on the radio I may blow the tweeters if i turn up the bass, even with bass blockers, should i upgrade those bass blockers maybe?

You have a rip on the speaker wire itself and its touching the body panel/ ground, best to run new quality speaker wires, are you using stock wires? Better to check the radio harness for a break, also the crimp connectors. If you find the problem behind the radio, thats usually the connectors on the harness, if its the doors, that means u need to use better connectors if u find that break.

I am using stock wires, can you elaborate?

check the plug for the radio harness, both behind the headunit and the factory wire. check for looseness and check the connectors, are they like crimp or solder? then disconnect the tweeters and see if there is more popping, if no popping with the tweeters remove, the problem is the tweeter, also check those bass blockers, see if they are touching anything.

are you saying you found metal shavings around the alpine deck? if thats the case, might as well get a new radio, the alpine might be shot on the internal.

so no more popping from the speakers?

The popping stopped after I got the debris out. I think I have to rewire one of the tweeters, it's making a really faint crackling noise. I highly doubt it's blown, maybe bad crossover, maybe bad wiring, learning towards wiring. If that doesn't work, I'm going to clean out the harnesses again with some contact cleaner. If that fail's, :ybrick:
