speakin' of alc. anyone Homebrew?

Hey,

I've been homebrewing for about 4 years now. I was wondering if anyone else here brews.... If not and you like microbrews, it's awesome. You can make high end, quality microbrews (clones) or make your own up, and its like less than half the price to make them. And making up your own recipes, after doing it a while, its really hard to FUBAR a batch...

I only brewed a few batches with my best friend, but they were some of the best beer I have ever tasted. He no longer brews because his wife's opinion of alcohol. I am thinking about getting into it since I now have access to tons of equipment (he used to work in a homebrew supply store). The only thing he sold was the reach-in "freezer", that held about 6 pony kegs. Luckily he took off the thermostat, just in case I wanted to create my own temperature controlled brewing setup.

FYI, Costco has a kegerator right now and I think I saw a coupon for $100 off. $499 -$100 = $399 Still kinda expensive, but it came with everything. Plus, with their return policy......you could use it for a few batches and then return it pretty much no questions asked.

Dude, I made mine for quite a bit less. I gotta decent used fridge for 90$... And I have 3 stainless taps coming through the door, with 3 soda kegs in their. They work killer because you brew in 5+gal batches and they hold 5.5 gallons. You just take all the shelves out, take the door shelves out and replace them with sheeting, I used like a plastic bathroom paneling. It has to be thin otherwise it won't seal. Cut that out and drill holes through it and put the sealing back on. Then a 1" bit to drill through the holes... I think the whole set-up ran (kegs, Co2 bottle, regulator, air lines, beer lines, taps, tap handles, fridge, paneling,etc...) about 400$.

I usually have 2 homebrews and a homemade soda (for the kids) on tap at all times.... Gonna have to start disconnecting the beer kegs and lock the fridge here in a few more years.....

that is if they're anything like I was....

I wish I would of, can save a bit of money... A local (to me) brewshop I go to has a website "www.baderbrewing.com" He has all kinds of brewing accessories. I'd check out his brew kits, itemize what comes in them, then shop e-bay for them. After bottling a dozen batches or so, you'll want to start kegging them, its a 200 dollar investment or so, but you don't have to wait 2 weeks for the bottles to carbonate, and you only have to clean and sterilize the keg instead of all the bottles.

i have been making my own beer with a mr beer for 3yrs. excellent beer and you cant beat the price. after drinking homebrew it is hard to go back to mass produced beer.
