Speeding up thumping sound when coming to a stop..

Your truck might be haunted. Set up a video camera to observe overnight. Put some Laffy Taffy on the dash, they love that shit. You might lure them out of the vents to get some. But not the banana kind, those suck.

If it's ghosts, you'll probably need to call an exorcist. If you want to try DIY, then you'll want to have a seance and ask the ghosts what unfinished business they have on earth that's preventing them from moving on to the afterlife. But if the fix involves nudity and chocolate pudding, don't believe them. They're just putting you on.
 
A few updates:

I replaced a U-joint that didn't truly need replacing yet, just a hair of play (the one at the rear axle).

I fully adjusted the brakes, ensuring the rear are working properly, weren't too loose or too tight. They are good.

Again the truck will whine, and as I stop the whine gets higher pitched until I get to around stopping, and it THUMPS heavily. Once I start driving again I get a squealing that sounds like a bad belt or pulley. I get the squealing every time after the thump happens.

I also have been getting a clicking when backing up (and turning) like when backing up into a parking spot.

I am real tired of this issue haha. Ideas?

I think we need an actual sound clip. You could also stand out side the car and have someone else bring it to a stop and see if you can hear it/ pin point it from out side the car.
 
I am in NY State.

I finally have some videos. The first video is damn near perfect, the video starts with me in the middle of making a sharp U-turn, as soon as the video starts the truck is already making the grinding/scraping/helicopter blade noise. Once the truck comes to a complete stop it thumps away.

The second video is coming to a dead stop on a highway, where it thumps at stop, and thumps again when beginning to drive. The noise in the middle of the video (at about 5 seconds) is a book sliding off my wife's lap and hitting the floor so disregard that.

how are the tires?

I had a customer come in recently, complaining of a noise/vibration. he was sure it needed some front end parts.

it was the tires, they were trashed. I don't think they had ever been rotated.

They are good. They have been rotated. Very good shape.
 
There was a TSB years ago to address a noise in the front axle bearings when cold. (shot in the dark) Did you check the diff pinion bearings as well?

Found the problem.

It was the automatic locking hubs. When one fails to unlock, it creates the sensation of a flat tire, a grind/wind and the thumping.

I serviced them, they worked for about 48 hours problem free, and now the culprit is stuck locked.

I am replacing them with manual hubs. Not worth the trouble.
