speedo broke and new error lights

Last night about a block before my destination my speedo died and the VSC TRAC, VSC OFF and ABS lights came on. Then later when I was driving home the check engine light came on. On Tuesday I went skiing and the bottom of my 4Runner was covered in a few inches of ice that didn't really melt off yesterday, it's been down to about 10 degrees the last couple days. Until the check engine light came on I was thinking either the ice damaged something or a fuse went bad. I'm going to check on what the engine codes are later today, any ideas about what went wrong? Anyone seen this before?

Not sure if our 4 runners get their speed indication from the tranny or sensors on the wheels. Either way I could see ice being the culprit for that. Seems odd that your vsc and trac lights came on though. Maybe ice pulled off a indicator cable? I'm confused and curious as to what happened. Let us know what the codes show. Good luck

Ice may have damaged your ABS sensors which causes the VSC/TRAC lights.

As for the speedo, what year is your truck? I know the 03-04 limited clusters are notorious for having malfunctioning speedometers

I'll bet Alex is right. A malfunctioning abs sensor would probably cause those symptoms.

I believe it's wheel sensors, because doing burnouts picks up that speedo

Thanks for the replies so far, here's the error codes:

- Evap emission control system pressure leak

I did find that my gas cap was loose when I filled up today, I closed it tight so hopefully after a few miles it'll sort itself out. Tuesday I filled up in 5 degree weather and drove up to Winter Park to ski...I'm thinking it'll be ok.

- Vehicle speed sensor malfunction

I noticed my cruise control doesn't work now either so, I'll have to check out the ABS/speed sensors and their wires as well.

Is this something relatively simple that I can fix myself? Where can I get the parts for a good price?

Rockauto.com for all the parts. Cheap and simple.

Abs sensor wiring is easy to replace. Plug and play.

I tried to find the VSS, where is it located? The drivers side or passenger side? Is it on the rear or front?
