Speedometer not working all of a sudden

Having the same problem

I just took apart my whole dash just to replace the lights on my instrument cluster... I've had problems with the lights since after the first year I got it, and that was 2003. Half of the cluster doesn't light up and the speedo doesn't work anymore. The temp and gas still work, and half of the cluster lights up and I've checked my fuses, made sure everything was put back together correctly, and still the needle sits at zero.... any suggestions?

I am having a same issue now. no speedometer.. no longer parts available also. Discontinue by Toyota Canada.. How can fix this??

Today, when I was getting into the truck. I heard this odd ticking noise, didn't know where it was coming from. Then it stopped, so I went back inside.

Came back out a few hours later, started it up and noticed my fuel gauge was spiking back and forth. Shut it off, started it back up and it worked fine. So I started driving along, and noticed that my speedometer isn't working now.

I've tried unhooking the battery, no change.

But I still hear this strange noise inside the cluster, when the key/engine is off. What is that?

Hello. My speedometer has quit working. So far I've change both front abs sensors, speed sensor, abs/brake master cylinders, and gauge cluster. Still no speedometer. Any suggestions or something?

2010 Trail speedometer does not light up not starting. blew ign2 20amp fuse underhood lights,windows, door lights all works. speedometer is still black and does not light up. i pluged in my obd2 reader and fails to connect to the ecm. i unplugged battery all day and night fully checked under kick pannels no sighn of water damaged also all fuses under driverside kick panel no fuse are blown i took out the speedmeter checked for anything that might be out of place. i tried tro start again today still cranks but not start.

would this be a ecm problem or speedometer?

also i belive it might be a short somewhere behind my lcd head unit

any help would give me a hand up

I would maybe start a seperate thread in the 5th gen section because this sounds a bit deeper than just a speedo not working.

But off the top of my head, these are a couple questions I would have:

-What modifications do you have installed (Electrically, not too worried about mechanical mods yet)

-Did you jumpstart the vehicle backwards by any chance?
