Spidertrax needed?

So got a really good deal on some FJ wheels today 50 bucks for 5. Going to powdercoat them satin black i believe. Now lets be honest the search up here sucks, and i have. I am sure i have read some post where people have fit 285/70/17 without the spider trax and did a little trimming, yet i have also read some post that stated you need the trax. Any help guys?

Also anyone know what the going rate for a set of sport edition wheels that are in good shape go for?

BlairB's posts will probably be the most helpful. I am fairly certain no spacers will be necessary with the FJC wheels due to the more favorable offset. Blair ended up with FJC rims and Spidertrax but on the way to that config I think he tried just the rims...

No idea what to ask for the sport rims. Many rims get sold on Ebay and the Classified section here. Look around, that may give you an idea.

I'm afraid you're looking for a clear answer when there may be none. Some people report installing 285's with neal problems with rubbing, but others say they have to do some fairly major surgery and / or add Spidertrax to solve the issue. It's likely some tires models are more square and the fit is already tight enough that a little variation there can make all the difference in the world.
