Oh, I found my mistake! The wheel width does not include 0.5" of wheel flange on each side. All is clear now! Thanks for the link!

No problem - was just wheel shopping this past month and there's a lot of misinformation out there when it comes to offset and backspacing. That site definitely takes the thinking out of it haha.

I'm running 17x8.5" wheels with 4.5" backspacing. I have stock tires (waiting for them to wear out). I also have 1.75" of lift in the front and 1.5" of lift in the rear.

My tires almost rub in the front now...and when I upgrade they will definitely rub. I think the rear will be fine. I'm pretty disappointed in how far you have to lift these trucks to go up even one size in tires. It's kind of lame.

I guess when the time comes I'll deal with it somehow...but I do like my wheels because it clears the upper ball joint with no worries.

You are right my wheels have 0 offset but the backspacing is 4.48

I did some calculations and I think I'd be looking for 17x7.5" with a 0 offset (versus 30mm stock). This will bring the wheel out by 30mm (1.2"), just like spidertrax.

Or should I be looking for a +30mm wider wheel but the same backspacing as stock? This outside will look same in both options.

Which option would have less impact on the bearings?

I couldn't decide on which set of new wheels so I bought spacers.

Those would be the specs FJ Cruiser 6 & 8 spoke rims and the 5th gen TE 4R rims are.
