will the 09 hump spoiler fit on an 06... pretty sure it will. the dealer says the trunks are different but i think they are the same.

btw i am new here, just traded in my 07 xrunner for an 06 4R sport.

Yes..and they don't even know there such a hump/non-hump spoiler..

OR..

They probably told you that it won't fit ,so you will not bother them and be contented with the no spoiler '06. They won't get money for spoiler installation because they will buy them @ $450 @ TRD or other toyota supplier while they charge $600-700 incl. labor. So @$200 labor is a risk to their techs because installing spoiler in a 4Runner is a PITA and will take up to 3 hrs even for experienced techs. Also, once, I accompanied my friend to many dealers and since we know about the 06 Hump spoiler, we stressed out that in every inquiry, They honestly answer that they are relying in part numbers and color codes and don't really have first hand knowledge wether it is with the hump style or not. But if you are planning to buy and have it installed by other body shops, just bring/print a picture of both hump and non-hump
style to save time explaning to them how it look like. Or just join their group buy here.

heres the story:
was never a big fan of the 4 gen 4R, but recently they have been growing on me. i saw an 06 sport edition on the lot when i brought my x runner in for an oil change.

went back a couple of days to see about pricing, i ended up going ahead with deal. I worked several things into the deal...
-pull out navi from tacoma, install in 4R.
-remove chipped grill, replace with limited grill (color matched)
-include/install 09 spoiler with hump.

i told them i didnt want to take the 4 runner till everything was done... they said take it and we will get it all done next week when parts come in....

everything came in, the salesman told me the spoiler was directly from toyota, which it wasnt. i made them open it up to make sure it was correct and was not-no surprise. tells me they will reorder the spoiler... now they want to charge me more since it had to come from toyota, 200 more... and i am not gonna pay it...

overall i love the 4runner so far, great suv... i just want that rear spoiler

Funny you mention this. A dealer once pulled the same thing on me. I wanted the OEM spoiler added, and I made sure they wrote it up as "Toyota OEM Spoiler". I went back a week later to have it installed, and it came out of a box from Spoilers.com or something like that - defiinitely not OEM. I wasn't going to mess around, so I just took my money back and didn't have a spoiler.

Then the car dealers wonder why we hate dealing with them. :bash:

Trunks are different? My T4R doesn't have a trunk--or does it and I just didn't know it?

What the heck is going on with these dealers. Twice, I've been in the same dealership and asked if I could get an OEM spoiler for my '06 Limited. They told me that I would have to get a new gate if I wanted an OEM spoiler. WTF, this can't be true. He proceeded to print out a parts list sheet showing 4 different gate part numbers, 2 with spoiler and 2 without spoilers.

Hey, mikeeymikee let me know if you get that OEM spoiler for your '06 Sport. If you do, let me know how it looks. I would like to see some pics once it's installed. I currently have an '06 Limited with an aftermarket. Below is a pic...

This spoiler doesn't look that bad, I think it would look better with the OEM Hump edition...

The difference in the gate is ...if the 4runner comes from the factory with a spoiler, there is NO 3rd brake light in the tailgate. If the 4runner comes from the factory without a spoiler, it has the 3rd brake light. Go to the mall and look around, you will see what I am talking about.

I know what your'e talking about, everytime I go somewhere and see a T4R with OEM Hump spoiler, I take a look and everytime it's a tailgate with spoiler and no 3rd break light in the tailgate. I have yet to see an OEM spoiler on a T4R with a 3rd brake light. What does this mean? Why, when I go do the dealership do they tell me I need to get a new gate if I want the OEM spoiler? Don't they want to make a sale? I just don't get it!!!!

Well, you don't need a gate, I can tell you that. I previously owned a Sequoia and it did NOT have a factory spoiler. I ordered an aftermarket spoiler and installed it myself. I just disconnected the 3rd brake light in the tailgate and connected the LED brake light in the spoiler instead. I didn't want the glare from the original brake light.

Just order either a factory OEM spoiler or an aftermarket one pre-painted like I did. It will work and look just fine. If you want the spoiler with the hump, you will probably have to go with OEM. You can check ebay and see if any of the aftermarket are 2006 (hump) compatible.
