Spoiler removed, now what?

Did some reading but couldn't find what I needed. Just removed the spoiler on my 06 but now I have 2 holes in the tailgate and two rivet like hangers as well. What have you guys done about this for those that have decided to remove the spoiler?

I'd probably put a bit of bondo where the holes are to prevent it from rusting from the inside out.

Why did you remove the spoiler?

I think the 4runner looks much better with the rear spoiler than without.

I like it without it better. Just don't know why to do about the body now. Will probably put it back on if no one has any practical solutions.

Each his or her own but they look to bulky to me , kinda liked the 3rd gens better , seem like they could come with something more pleasing to the eye !

Honestly, saw an 06+ 4Runner SE today and the bulgy spoiler does look fairly crummy. I wasn't impressed.

Perhaps you can find one from an 03-05 that's a bit more streamlined?

Sell it to me if leaving off.

I had used some rubber plugs in past on another car when spoiler was removed. It worked well. I picked them up att hardware store.

Although I prefer the look with the spoiler on, your repair looks good and those plastic covers aren't too noticable.

I personally like the no spoiler look.

I've been contemplating whether to remove mine, but concerned about getting cited for not having third brake light. If there was a easy brake light fix I'd have removed it already.

Assuming that I'm keeping mine I may try to incorporate some LED work lights or something into it so I can feel like it serves some kind of utilitarian purpose.

Looks good to me ! Can hardly notice your plugs , ya good job . Wasn't aware a 3rd brake light was a law ?

Is a third brake light considered a law? Funny that you mention that, I saw a motorcycle cop on my way to school this morning and I saw him staring me down as I drove by. Didn't pull me over but he could've I guess.

I don't know if I'd necessarily get pulled over for it, but it won't pass annual state inspection in VA for sure:

The high mount stop lamp must be steady burning and not wired to flash with turn signals or other wig-wag device"...

Yeah, I thought about removing mine, but then you lose the 3rd brake light. Plus, with the spoiler, you can leave the back window open and if it rains it protects from water coming in the window.

Yeah the circle is where the light should be. The outline of the light is there, just no light.

I rarely open my rear window let alone in the rain so that wouldn't be an issue for me personally.

Have you thought about adding the light in that spot? I took a look at mine and while it is a blank I suspect it's there as in models w/o the spoiler to be cut out.
