Does anybody know when the 3rd gen went from the festoon style bulb to the bayonet bulb in the map lights?
I'll do an all white kit with plate light. 3rd gen of course.

to 3rd gen kit buyers:
I ordered up map light panels for the first 10 kits! I was not happy with the bulbs that I tested and don't want to keep anybody waiting any longer! I also have dome lights coming in! So when those parts are in transit, I will pm the first 10 3rd gen owners on the list! The kits will be $5 more expensive because they are map panels instead of bulbs! I sent some emails and got us better pricing for the panels. I do not think the extra $5 will be an issue but if it is, let me know! The reason I decided to use panels instead of bulbs is 1. Matching the dome lights 2. different types of map lights in the 3rd gen! The use of the panels, they come with 3 different adapters, makes this 3rd gen kit truly universal to all 3rd gens! Sorry again guys, working out all the kinks makes it difficult but I will fix this! Even with the $5 increase(due to map panels), $39 +shipping for a basic kit is still a killer deal!

This was also another reason for the map panel upgrade! Instead of bulbs! Although the red was impressive and reasonably ambient, I thought a red PANEL would be brighter! Pics were taken in a GX470

Well, first I will send out kits to the first 10 buyers on the list, they will then rate the kits and give their honet opinions about it. Afterwards, I will move on to the next people on the list, collect payment, order components and send them out to the buyers:lookout:
The kit you mentioned is the all white setup! It used to be $34, but since I got rid of the bulbs that come with the kit and replaced them with map panels, the kits will cost an additional $5. I did this because of the differences in map lights of the 3rd gen. By switching to panels, you get 1. brighter light and 2. the three different types of adapters that allow it to work on ANY 3rg gen 4runner.
So total would be $39+$5.20=$44.20 shipped
Answer regarding shipping is above! The setup you mentioned will cost $39(basic kit)+$4(2x Red map light upgrade)+$4.50(license plate lights)+$5.90(shipping)=$54.40 shipped to your door!

Actually, red or green light filters are used in cockpit lighting during flight. This allows for much improved glareless forward vision while in use. Additionally you will also notice print on maps or documents standouts for reading .
But yeah, red lighting in some circumstances denote brothel, bordello or cathouse ahead. LOL

I was not a big fan of the red but it does provide improved lighting and! The inside of the car is difficult to view from the outside even when completely lit up! I am excited to see what the red map panels can do:thumb3:
