Sport Grill changeout or paint?

I realize the look of the Limited grill on the Sport looks good. I am not too up on paint, so why can't it be painted instead?? and if I have an old bull bar, can it be painted any other color and just final coat 'clearcoat' on it?? thanks guys

You can have the stock grill painted, but since it's already "chromed" (or plastic chrome plated?), the paint might not adhere too well unless it's properly prepped. Plus, the paint may chip somewhat easily.

If you look at what it costs to have it painted properly, it is probably more cost effective to buy one from a Toyota dealership in the proper color and ready to bolt right on.

As I recall here, it is a couple hundred. I will keep it in mind, unless a cheaper alternative arrises. thanks

Yes, Kenny, that is the look that I will probably go for. that and a Westin bar. ( I miss going to the city, by the bay. moved up north)

Just get the painted grill. It's much easier and will definitely last much longer. I've tried painting chrome grills in the past. The prep work put into it and the longevity of the paint just doesn't hold up that well. I think you can get a new painted one from Partznet for around $125-150. Worth it IMO.

In addition to all the above, you have a very good shot at recoupping close to all your cost by selling the smoked chrome grill on ebay. I did.

Just buy one , it will cost more to prep and paint the current one.
