Sport hood conversions

that's a clean look dog. mine's all black, but no scoop.
eh i'm not sure about resale value, but the value to you would be super high.
i'm going to just buy a new one and get it done. impatient.

Let us all know what brand of hood you buy, and how the fit and installation went, would you? Pics would be great also!

i ordered the parts thru my toyota dealership. they are top notch for me.
i like my factory parts so decided to go at it this way. ordered the new hood, the bulge itself, the inside insulation, and all the nuts and bolts to get it together. i didn't know the bulge is a separate piece.
best part is, they're going to deliver it no charge to the custom shop where it'll get painted and installed.
i should have it all dialed in late next week. i'm excited to put the finishing touches on the truq. all the limited luxuries with the sporting cloak.
btw, can someone please verify that for an '03 sport hood, the hood doesn't have the bulge or scoop shaped by the metal but is a separate piece? this is what the dealership ordered, but doesn't make sense to me.
why wouldn't toyota build the scoop part itself molded in one piece?

Yeah, the hood is all one piece of metal, it has plastic trim and mesh pieces that go inside the scoop. That's just a stock photo

how much is that all going to run you? hood/parts/insulation/bolts + paint and installation?
even with heavy discounts, all the hood parts will cost ~$600 from the dealership. if you go list, it's way more than that. pls correct me if i am wrong but i don't think chaz got the right insulation underneath the hood. i am. i'm not even sure if you got an OEM hood, bud. didn't you go aftermarket with OEM scoop parts? the insulation is the 2nd highest cost after the hood itself.
my paint guy isn't cheap (he did work on my techart aerokit on my 911) so i imagine it'll cost me $600-700 or so for the labor, install, tax.
so it'll be under $1500 for the complete conversion from factory non-scoop to factory sport hood on my limited.

dont even have one. thats just a quote i got from shops around me, depending on where someone goes, again in my area, OEM-1000-1200 for everything including painting. i see some guys on the forum did have decent results with an aftermarket one for around 500. yea, i did try that , paint seemed ok, but u still had to install it urself, buy the scoop insert & reuse everything else, which is doable. sad thing was,i had to send each hood back (for a total of 3 times!) & it still reached me with a squashed scoop, very poor wrapping & shipping. so i got my $ back, & decided the cost for an OEM hood, wasnt worth it just to have a scoop. when ur an older sob on a fixed income, that much can be a big nut to crack.
no worries my man. i appreciate your willingness to share your story. i hope to have a good outcome and share what all it takes since i had a hard time finding examples here in this good community.

The only qualm that I have with my sport hood, is that I'm 6'5 and so I sit up high in the seat, and the sun likes to glare off of the bump and right into my eyes, it could also be the titanium silver that I have, hopefully most of you don't have this issue, just sayin
