Sport Hood Question

I recently acquired an insert and have decided to go the certifit route and buy my sport hood through them. Do you need to buy a heat shield for a sport hood to install with it, or does the non sport heat shield( the one currently on my 4Runner) work on a sport hood? Also any input on certifit hoods would be appreciated too.

Sport hood heat shield has the rear center section cut away. Sorry for the pic, but it's all I've got.

I'm sure your stock (non-sport version would work, it just wouldn't have the cutout but because its not a functional hood scoop, I'm unclear if this even matters... the only thing i can imagine it doing is making the nuts for the hood scoop insert hard to get to...


aftermarket hoods will NOT come with this heat shield....

Thanks for your input guys. I figured the hood wouldn't come with a shield but I'm just seeing if I can save a dollar by using my old heat shield instead of buying a new(new to me) sport hood heat shield.

When I did my hood I didn't even bother putting it on.

Mine did this too. It bothered me enough that I replaced it with a sport hood insulator off a wrecked hood.
