Spring Overland Trip April 5-8

Awesome! I figured there was a pretty significant learning curve with these...thanks so much for taking the time! Your project looks really professional- it'll last forever too.

I wire things to last, but having quality connections that can be unplugged multiple times and remain waterproof and maintain integrity has always been a problem. These connectors solve that for sure.
I have ordered from Delcity before too, but these connectors get confusing!

No problem, delcity's site is definitely more navigable but I found Waytekwire to be the best for cost vs.quantity (on most parts) especially the pins... happy to yap and show when we get out there on the trail! Which is what this thread is all about, right? :cheers:

Yeah, I can't wait! I am on Vaca now and I really wanted to get out camping this week but it didn't work out. Instead, I've spent the week making my deck into a screened-in porch and putting some finishing touches on my workshop, which is still fun (for me at least). :twitch:

Sounds great! and if your new workshop is 1/2 of what you had before, it'll be more than awesome!

And April will be here soon enough (I don't think I'll get my storage solution built out by then... as well as the many other mods I'd love to do)

My new workshop is smaller- but since the boat isn't in there it's actually more space- 12x18. I now have the mother of all table saws too (my Dad's!) so wood projects are on the horizon! Sneek pic...

Hey all... Spent today scouting trails with Tom [MENTION=137555]Sleeter[/MENTION] Had a really great day!

I have ton of video to upload. So maybe tomorrow I'll get to that.

This my 3rd time out to this area in the last 3 months.... Here's my 2 cents for April... It's going to be cold, so plan accordingly. Last night was 23 degrees. A zero degree sleeping bag is really worth it if you're going to be sleeping in your truck or a tent or RTT. Teton sports makes a nice one (Amazon).

Pinstriping... It's going to happen. There's no way around it, so if this isn't your thing, I suggest you rethink it. Today we were in some pretty tight areas as far as brush.

There are no real challenging areas, and IMO a stock truck on good tires should not have any problems. There will be some mucky, muddy areas, especially if the ground thaws any more.

If you need/want a spotter... Ask, honk, etc. Don't be afraid to ask for help... That's why this is organized and scouted ahead of time so we know what to expect. Don't base your confidence on how I drive... Lol.

Hey T4R friends! Checking in! (I'm [MENTION=137555]Sleeter[/MENTION] 's wife). Just to let everyone know - we're bring our sons (5 and 7) on this trip. So if anyone else has a kiddo in that range - bring them! I've found that when other kids are around, adults get more adult-time. We love our little pupper-roos but they're going to be in a kennel for this round so I don't have to worry about them as much.

It will definitely be chilly in April in the mountains! Last spring, it snow flurried the whole trip. Definitely bring your buddy heaters, hand warmers, etc for comfortable sleeping.

We've also found another secret to success is a privacy tent and portable toilet and good shovel.

Last - try not to be THAT guy with a ton of crap to set up and take down so we can get in and out of camps quicker if needed. I know I should talk - I've got a family of four to set up and pack up. :noidea:

Looking forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks! Got a few items of maintenance to address on the truck and our trailer before then. See you soon!

We will be meeting during the day/evening Thurs. but nothing organized is starting until 0800 on Fri, correct? I figure I'll work at least part of Thursday if that's the case, and then head straight to the meeting point. This will of course depend on where we are meeting up the first night as well.

We will rally Thursday afternoon in central PA at a gas station around 3pm, then we will drive about a hour to our campsite. More details will be posted in the coming days.
