Spring "overland" trip George Washington National Forest

Not a problem, Friday morning one group will proceed directly up union springs and another group will head to Switzer lake to establish a camp location. The group that establishes camp with then backtrack about 20min and head up Union Springs. The GPS coordinates will be posted by noon on Friday. If that is too late for you due to limited cell service the easiest way to find camp will be to proceed up Dunkel hollow road and look for my trailer.
Sleeter what nav program are you running and which platform? Looks like android or IOS based. I've been looking for a good off-road nav app I can run on my iPad or phone.

I use both Gaia GPS Pro and HemaExplorer on iOS and PC. If I were to go with one I would go with Gaia.

+1 vote for Gaia. They're both built on the same platform, but Gaia regularly provides updates/bug fixes and new maps (less frequently than updates).
Hema Explorer took almost a year to update/bug fix after their initial release and is still at version 1.0.3 on the Play store as of today (last updated in December 2016).

I agree, additionally Gaia's web interface is way better than HemaExplorer's. But I like HemaExplorer's maps more, but Gaia Pro has better overlays.... Gaia works much better with google earth....
Back on track, I have reservations for 20-25 people at Lost River Brewing for Saturday.

I drove the Saturday afternoons section of the route today. We should be able to make it from the brewery to camp in 2.5hrs.

Sometimes I think overlanding is basically backpacking for people who don't like to walk, want meat/bacon/beer at every meal, and need to bring as many creature comforts as possible (fridge).
Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Grabbed the gpx off outboundoverland, threw it in gaia. We supposed to see 220 waypoints? Didn't know if this is normal. First time loading and using gpx in Gaia.
Kinda, those are points along the tracks. They typically don't show as actual points on the map. I can reload all the tracks tonight if it is causing a issue. Let me know.

Can't wait- BTW- regarding fart noises...Remind me to tell you guys a story about that while we are at the campfire...
What's the campfire situation BTW. I read fires only in designated fire rings and I assume there is just plenty of wood to gather?

You have read correctly, fire is not forbidden outside fire rings but we should try to keep it in the ring. Lots of wood around the area to gather. I'll have my chainsaw to make dropping some standing-dead easier.
