Spring "overland" trip George Washington National Forest

Crazy thing happened today, I ran into [MENTION=141503]carlos.elmotor[/MENTION] at Green Ridge State Forest!! Im bent over setting up my camera and i see this gray T4R pull up and im like, Sweet Ride! this dude has got to be on the forum! and then it hits me... ITS CARLOS! At this point Im too shocked to say anything, all i can process is, how did this happen... The rest is history, now were BFFs.

So I made a video.

I just stumbled upon this thread. I have ridden my mountain bike all over this area for many years. Just picked up a 4Runner and would love to join. Put me down as a solid maybe at this point. Need to double check the calendar and see if I can make it out.

If I go, I would be doing some mountain biking on Sunday at least. Anybody care to join?

Spring "overland" trip George Washington National Forest

When I was cruising around Green Ridge and bumped into [MENTION=141503]carlos.elmotor[/MENTION] we stopped by our reserved camp site and discovered that the site itself was significantly smaller than what I remembered from two years ago. Maybe the brush encroached? Maybe I have a bad memory...



Long story short we were able to change our reservation to a better larger site G1. I have updated the GPX files with a new route (paw paw to G1) and a new way-point for camp (G1).



Bring your fishing pole and MD fishing license because, rumor has it [MENTION=141503]carlos.elmotor[/MENTION])- the pond next to our camp will stocked just before we get there. Nothing better than fresh trout around the camp fire.

Guys and gals...I'll be in a 2006 Tacoma...3" OME lift....but the only thing I'm worried about is my rock sliders will be put on AFTER this trip. Just a 2 month build time....

Will I be okay? I know it was mentioned this was stocker friendly, just wanted some reassurance.

You will be fine. No need for sliders on these trails.

Wife and I are in! We will stick together 2014 Taco no sliders on yet.

At least one group will head directly up union springs trail, another group will head to Switzerland Lake to reserve a camp site. The group that headed to Switzer Lake will then head up union springs and rally with the first group on top of Flagpole Knob for a group photo.



Adventure doesn't start until the plan goes pear shaped... This is going to be a fun trip.

Might want to make it 30 mins. Just after the mud hole area are those rocks people like to climb and then you have the big rock to get up. That will definitely snag groups up especially since it is a tight loop around the small rocks to climb up. As well as I am sure the stockers will be hesitant to go up it and need guidance

30min sounds good. We will need to keep the play time quick if we're going to complete the entire loop. We could have one group that will play on Union Spring and complete a abbreviated loop (down dunkel hollow to Switzer).

Trail gear front bumper addicted off-road rear with a basket up top also have a 4wheelparts sticker across the windshield.

We're both located in the Bel Air area, and would be getting on the freeway via Exit 77 on I-95. I believe Jeff said it's a 2.5 hour drive from where we're at... so that's a good reference for time. [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION] is going to let me know what time we are leaving. I honestly haven't looked at the drive, I know he's got the timetable handled.

EDIT: Now I see you're in Annapolis... so south of us. Maybe you could hook up with us on the way by... I know some Jeepers do that.

and any other folks coming from near Annapolis/Baltimore/Columbia MD. I'm in MIllersville just off of I-97. Google Maps shows that it looks like 2 hours and 50 minutes give or take based on traffic, pit-stops etc.

I too would be up for caravan. If folks have a CB perhaps picking out a channel to call out on and catch up on the road?
