We probably want to avoid the DC Beltway, 295 and 66 during the morning rush. My thoughts are I-70 W to US 340 S to I-81 S. We should be going against the rush for the most part with that route?

Hi Everybody!
Were two weeks out so those of you who need to drive a significant distance should begin looking how and when you will arrive in Harrisonburg VA. Are you going to travel down Thursday night and camp or stay in a hotel? Or are you going to road-warrior it to the rally-point Friday morning? I need to stress that from Harrisonburg we will be on the trail for between 5-8 hours. If you are not accustom to driving this many hours it could become uncomfortable. Dont be scared, I just dont want anyone complaining to me about driving for so long. If you do feel the need to complain please direct your words to [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION] or [MENTION=141503]carlos.elmotor[/MENTION] they are trained conflict resolution experts.
Additionally I have some basic rules for the trip.
1. Dont complain
2. Dont be an a$$hole
3. Help each other and anyone else on the trail

5. Trail damage is part of the game, ask me about my $1k days.
I had a long discussion with a Ranger at the Harrisonburg HQ, and he warned me that they will be on the trail and will be ticketing anyone who leaves the trail or goes into closed areas. What does that mean? If you come across a sign posted do not pass or trail closed, DO NOT proceed into that area. Even if it looks like a awesome trail or great mud hole it could result in a $200 fine.

To go off of what [MENTION=137555]Sleeter[/MENTION] says I live in Charlottesville. It is a nice and easy 1 hour drive from the Meetup. I have permission from the wife to let a couple scoundrels 
stay the night before should you choose. It can make that long overnight trip to drive to H-Burg alot easier. I am offering up a Queen Size bed, a full bed, some floor space for a inflatable mattress and a couch which can sleep 2 people. [MENTION=119443]Twitchstyle13[/MENTION] and [MENTION=126369]Chuch[/MENTION] can vouch that I am a human being and not a creeper pedo that will eat you in your sleep. Please tag my name so I can keep count. Would love to make this easy for some of you. Hell if you want to pitch a tent in my back yard I can have a few more people over. You choice!

I'm still a maybe.
Just dropped off new Pelfreybilt bumper (above) for paint. Most I've seen are matte black. I'm going with oem black to match body. May be harder to touch up, but that's a trade-off I'm happy with.
We'll see if I can wrap up this project before the trip. I hope so.
Also have a conflicting trip with extended family. Not clear yet whether I'm going tho. Will post here when commitments firm up.

I'm going to skip this one and try to catch up on the next one. I was hoping to have a small lift and new tires to complete this trail ride, but it doesn't look like I'm going to have time to get this done now. I don't think my entirely stock LE would manage the trails planned.

Im in a STOCK 99 you can do this!

I have run this in my 99 when I was bone stock with Michelin LTX highway tires (I am also referring to the Flagpole leg of this trip)
Being in Richmond you can atleast do what I am going to do and make it a day trip.

I'll be doing the road-warrior thing.
I keep saying that I'm going to change careers and become a long-haul trucker since I spend so much time on the road.
Besides, 5 to 7 hours on trails goes by like 5 minutes because it's so much fun!
POST EDIT: Since you put it out there you know we're going to do item 1 and 2 just for fun! (to the degree that it doesn't get us in trouble of-course, like I don't want to be Rochambeau'd by a 9 year-old UFC ninja)

I am going in as a Daytrip but I will most likely be pitching a tent in the back of my 4 runner to spend the night. It is super easy to get off of Flagpole to head back home if you do not decide to stay.

Also since I am most likely going home either friday night or if I do camp I have some nice firewood that I can load into the back of my 4runner so we dont take anymore trees down at Switzer lake. its nice and dry! Worst case I can pass it along to someone who will be dropping their stuff off at Switzer lake so im not lugging firewood thats bouncing around in my truck all day.
