I was missing that you have to buy the GAIA app. After I bought the app, I was able to download the maps with no issue.

Is anybody planning to skip Union Spring and go with me up Dunkle Hollow?
 
Here is Saturday's schedule. So much easier. We will have one deep water crossing which [MENTION=133021]propain[/MENTION] will need to test the waters with his brand new snorkel we are installing Thursday. If the water is too deep I have a bypass mapped.


SATURDAY - approximate schedule:
0845 - Driver briefing
0900 - Group 1 departs
0930 - Group 2 departs
1230 - Lost River Brewing Company for lunch
1330 - Depart Lost River Brewing Company
1630 - Arrive at Green Ridge State Forest site G1 for dinner, drinks, fishing, check out trucks, etc.

Yeah it's pretty awesome.

USFS 2016 maps are a welcome update to the old USGS topos. The openstreetmap is incredibly detailed too.

Between these two and the web interface, planning, storing, and sharing trip info is super easy. *And* the developer is really good about bugfixes and adding updated maps as they come out (without charging anything extra).

I still have a lot to figure out but I've already downloaded maps for this trip so it'll work with no cell coverage. I'll keep messing with it- it's a lot of fun!
 
Richmond overlanders!!

The WaWa is right next to the Sunbelt on Broad Street near the Goochland line.

Here's the address. 6:15ish? should be less than 2 hours to Harrisonburg. So we have some time to play with just in case anyone is running behind.

I cant wait for this trip! Spent today doing a once-over on our trailer, reinstalled my awning, reinstalled propane tank holder on the bumper, and changed the rear diff-fluid. No signs of water intrusion, but the fluid was DARK.

One thing to consider is teaming up with others on the trip to buy/ cook/ clean your meals. One person buys the food, another cooks it, the other cleans it up. This will free up a significant amount for time for everyone and allow for more of a team atmosphere. I'm set, my wife is coming so I'll buy the food, she does the rest. :croc:

I emptied the truck and reconfigured everything for my "short trip" load out. Also bought my beer for the trip... priorities right?

Walmart for food and snacks on Wednesday then Harrisonburg Thursday night!

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

While I can't commit to a shot out, I'll gladly join you for one or a few.

Your efforts on this outing deserve at least that. And I'm an expert at sitting around and doing nothing.
