Hi Everybody!

Were two weeks out so those of you who need to drive a significant distance should begin looking how and when you will arrive in Harrisonburg VA. Are you going to travel down Thursday night and camp or stay in a hotel? Or are you going to road-warrior it to the rally-point Friday morning? I need to stress that from Harrisonburg we will be on the trail for between 5-8 hours. If you are not accustom to driving this many hours it could become uncomfortable. Dont be scared, I just dont want anyone complaining to me about driving for so long. If you do feel the need to complain please direct your words to [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION] or [MENTION=141503]carlos.elmotor[/MENTION] they are trained conflict resolution experts.

Additionally I have some basic rules for the trip.
1. Dont complain
2. Dont be an a$$hole
3. Help each other and anyone else on the trail

5. Trail damage is part of the game, ask me about my $1k days.

I had a long discussion with a Ranger at the Harrisonburg HQ, and he warned me that they will be on the trail and will be ticketing anyone who leaves the trail or goes into closed areas. What does that mean? If you come across a sign posted do not pass or trail closed, DO NOT proceed into that area. Even if it looks like a awesome trail or great mud hole it could result in a $200 fine.

Apologies for not responding any sooner. If you're familiar with Catholicism, I gave up all Social Media for Lent. I know, it was a pretty smart decision. At least I didn't give up alcohol, like my wife did. LOL Any ways, I forgot that I could freely use/consume what I gave up for Lent only if I went to Church on Sunday. I didn't use my freebie yesterday, so I maybe bending the rules a tad bit for getting on today.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make the trip this time around due to other obligations that came up. [MENTION=137555]Sleeter[/MENTION], looks like you and [MENTION=141503]carlos.elmotor[/MENTION] did a tremendous job at putting this trip and the maps together. The list has grown quite a bit and it looks like the trip is going to be a blast. [MENTION=125025]GHARP57[/MENTION] is a good trail guide for Flagpole, I'm glad he is part of the group and won't steer you guys wrong.

Hopefully I will make the next one or maybe a solo trip with the provided maps. Have fun you all!

Damn you! LOL I'm looking at 9 today and 9 tmrw. I have everything staged and ready in the garage- just need to hit the grocery store and get some beer.

Its the GWNF, Flagpole is almost a mile up in elevation. Its always cold up there! Hell the last few times I have gone there was snow flurries! (Dec, Nov, and April last year)

I know weather is unpredictable, really, but when I looked at the report a couple days ago it was saying lows in the mid 40s and highs near 60, and that's the info I told her (she hates the cold). Oh well, lesson learned, that's what the heater is for.

Last time I went up Flagpole (February) the forcast called for partly-cloudy but it snowed almost all day. The temperature at the top is usually 5-15* cooler than Harrisonburg. I usually do it at the Big Hill you can climb up on the left after that 1st hair pin (which is a really tiny hair pin)

Yep, I dropped a waypoint "air-down here" in that location. I'm taking Thursday off so 1 more day till vacation.

Spent most of today in meetings then came home and figured out how to mount a shovel on my SSO rear bumper. [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION] can eat his heart out! No pics till Friday. Also discovered how to mount my newly acquired TRED PROs to my spare tire. One more day till Thursday two more days till trail-time.
