Spring "overland" trip George Washington National Forest

Spent most of today in meetings then came home and figured out how to mount a shovel on my SSO rear bumper. [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION] can eat his heart out! No pics till Friday. Also discovered how to mount my newly acquired TRED PROs to my spare tire. One more day till Thursday two more days till trail-time.

Hmmmmm.

I wonder if my mirrors will fold in the snow...

9 hours tomorrow = eternity. Almost there, almost there.

Looks like I'll be arriving somewhere between 4 and 5pm on Friday afternoon. I'll keep an ear out for CB chatter once i'm in the vicinity but will most likely head straight for base camp.

Lots of country highways, I'm aware of the 4 legged mammals that are a danger to those on 2-wheels, are they as much of a threat this time of the year? Will be doing the majority of the driving in the area after sunset.

Probably going to do Ihop or Wafflehouse by the parking deck for super early breakfast. LMK if you need a coffee or something.

Not sure about the deer this time of year, but you may want to consider Mr. J's for breakfast. Fresh made bagels, real eggs, home fries, bacon, etc. There's one off 33 and (used to be) one south of the parking deck off of 42. Not sure if that one is still there.

I know weather is unpredictable, really, but when I looked at the report a couple days ago it was saying lows in the mid 40s and highs near 60, and that's the info I told her (she hates the cold). Oh well, lesson learned, that's what the heater is for.

^^ This scared me!

So I just picked up a Mr. Heater Buddy and 4 x 1lb propane tanks at my local Lowe's.

I don't like being cold at night and it looks like it will be below freezing for us.

I can't imagine I'll use more than 1 or 2 tanks at the most so if anyone needs the other two for cooking or their own heaters, they are available.

Can't wait for this trip and to meet everyone (a few folks, again)!

My wife is tired of me constantly going in and out of the garage tinkering with things for the truck every night this past week!

Wish I could take tomorrow off to pack, prep and mount everything but I will have to do it after work.

Such a busy week, I won't/didn't have time to do anything that I wanted..
Replacing both front axle shafts, and diff breather.

Can't bring much food either across border, so all I have to do is setup the cot in the back, two sleeping bags, a cooler, boots, stove, and water!

Walmart will be my home while I sort out what I want to eat at 2am.

No one has ever accused me of being cultured before.

I do have to admit that I love me a good session IPA though.

It will be interesting to see everyone's camp setup. I have been condensing and minimizing all my gear since the Cove trip. Still want to have everything but I have it all in "modules" to try to make setup more efficient.

Psyched to see how it plays out and mooch some good ideas from others.

3.5 hrs left in this crap box. Lol.

Got the truck up on a lift after class/work today and rotated the tires and checked everything out underneath. Friday can't come fast enough.

My Taco is packed and ready to go...I had to pack up tonight...working a 24 hour shift at the firehouse tomorrow and leaving straight from there in the morning....fingers crossed we have a quiet night tomorrow night at work!

I'm a camping newb so looking forward to seeing everyone's set up.

Got the truck kinda packed, got all the stuff mounted on the bumper, topping off the charge on my 2nd battery, and plugged in my fridge to get it good and cold. Tomorrow I need to do one last once over of the camera gear and drone, pack my clothes, pack our food, and hook up the trailer.

I've got the wood loaded. I checked for any track marks on them for signs of any type of borer bug and it's all clean. I also grabbed some dead Christmas tree as a fire starter. I have my Coleman grill and 2 propane tanks. I have a roll of large garbage bags for clean up. My sleeping bags which will be my mattress. I have some other small things to pack tomorrow and I will be good to go!!


So I have my Coleman grill what's everyone doing for dinner??

Completely agree. I always like getting a chance to check out other people's loadouts and hearing "the why and the where"
