Sprint Booster

Glad to help out. All orders made this week will be received next week. Usually about 2-3 days to get after you order aprox. Please come back after you install for your feedback, which will be good :)

Burtman Industries Sprint Booster, V3 SALE! -keeping this price for a few more days, if they keep selling I'll try to extend it.
Ordered mine Friday 7/27, arrived today Tuesday 7/31. Thanks Jason!

5 minute install. (15 if you consider the 10 minutes to leave your door open as part of the install time).

Drove city and freeway for about 30 minutes and I am impressed. (Yes I understand it doesnt add HP). Really changes the "feel" of the acceleration. It helps passing up cars on the city and freeway.

I chose Sprint over Pedal Booster because of its size. I can tuck/stick it a bit more discreetly.

Ordered on Friday and got it Tuesday. Minutes to install. I found the setting on Sport (green) 5 to 7 was best. Racing (red) was too aggressive. I definitely see myself forgetting about the laws of physics and finding myself in a bad spot, especially when fully loaded with gear and people.

It's a keeper. The 4Runner just feels so much more nimble and more responsive now. With some of the acceleration ramps on certain parkways being so short in Long Island, NY - this is a welcomed mod.

Just be careful to not zip tie anything to the heater core. That thing gets really hot. It may melt the zip tie or even the remote cable. Below is a picture of what I am talking about.

I'm also going to use the blank switch to the right of steering wheel. I wish I had a 3D printer and make a blank cover that protruded about half an inch to accommodate the cable being fed back into the panel.

Good feedback again :) Thanks for chiming in.

Is it safe to unplug the remote after we find a setting that we're happy with? Or does it have to always be connected?

Debating on whether or not I should keep the remote on. Thoughts?

The user manual says if you unplug the remote keypad the controller retains the last setting. I left mine connected so I can return to the OEM squishy pedal configuration during slow speed 4-wheeling. And when I take the truck in for servicing. You can also disable the numerical display so it looks less obvious.

Thanks EB. I'll take that as it's safe to remove then. :thumb:

I'm going back and forth about which way I want to go with it. Part of me would like to mount the controller on one of the empty blanks but I'll have to drill a hole to do so. Therefore in the future should I decide to remove the controller, I'll be stuck with a hole there. Decisions decisions... lol

Update: After driving several hundred miles in the last 5 of days, I decided Sport (green) 4 was the best setting.

I found the slower response was good for feathering the gas pedal when crawling through traffic. A little further push on the pedal gave the engine to work on its own to get to the desired speed, but if I needed full throttle to overtake a lane, it was there as soon as I floored it.

Settling on this after seeing my MPG drop a bit and also the thought of the engine working so hard in such a short amount of time is probably not good. I just reached 11,000 miles on the odometer, but I feel like I am still breaking it in. I'll just take it easy for a bit.

Yep, 100%. I've had many just set it and forget it. Meaning, set it at the setting you like, then unplug the cable and keep it in your glovebox - in case you ever want to mess with it again. Some people like this so they don't have to mount it, and it's easier for some... Or, mount it and then you have full control all the time. It will REMEMBER the last setting you set it at, so if you do unplug the cable, it will never forget the last setting it was on, even if your battery dies.

At risk of sounding like a fan boy I absolutely LOVE the sprint booster and now I can't imagine my 4 runner without it. I debated the purchase for a year and now wish I would have installed it sooner.

I think I've settled on the green sport setting 5 after about 30 minutes of testing. Just to make sure it wasn't a placebo effect I turned it off and accelerated...there's definitely a big difference.

I ordered it last week and Jason shipped it right away. I removed the gas pedal with the 2 bolts during the install, so everything was much easier to reach. Took about 15 minutes to install, plus the 10 minutes of mandatory leave your door open time.

Thanks for replying and appreciate the feedback. The thing works on these trucks and wakes it up like you fed it some coffee :)

I drilled a hole and mounted mine today on one of the empty blanks. Because I'm a bit OCD I went ahead and had the dealer order me another blank for $7.10. That way when I sell the T4R I can remove the Sprint Booster and replace the blank....

I'm considering to do the same as well. Would you happen to have the part number for the blank?

Initially settled on Sport 4 setting and then switched to Sport 2. For me, found this as best balance of around town and over the road with desired throttle response.

Anyone have positive results with mpg?

Keep in mind this isn't going to change gas mileage. JUST the instant feel of the gas pedal. Now, with that said, the first tank of gas with this installed is probably going to be less, because you're going to be mashing the throttle and testing it, trying the different settings and that extra aggressiveness while testing it will obviously hamper your mileage a little. BUT, when you start getting back to driving it how you always did before, and forget that it's there - gas mileage will be the same. I guess it's possible if you think of the delay the stock pedal gives and say you hit your gas pedal 150 times a day, maybe since that delay will then be gone with the sprint booster, that's less time your truck will be idling and possibly may help, but I think we are splitting hairs :)
