Sprint Booster

Im getting mine today for my 2019 pro and also prob some spacers!

Cool, you will love it. The thing is awesome. And I can custom make you ANY size spacer lift you want,. Let me know.

Just got mine this week, will install on Sunday.

Sweet, be sure to come back with your feedback of course.

Oh, anyone wanting to order, you can call me now and I can take your order over the phone, call or text 717-319-2100. I'm here til 9pm tonight, saturday, and tomorrow night too (sunday) And then of course Monday- Friday. :)

Burtman Industries Sprint Booster, you can send it back if you don't like it!

So, I took a sip of the Kool-Aid. Then after installing I drank the whole pitcher. Like others have said the install takes all of about 15 minutes. The first ten of which are spent with the door open waiting for the CANBUS system to work itself out. I took this opportunity to find a spot for the controller. Once the truck sat for 10 minutes I used the Squeeze-Push-Pull method and the accelerator pedal connector popped right off. I have only driven for about and hour so far but I like what I am experiencing.

Before I would tell the truck "Go!" and it would respond "Okay. I hear what you are saying but let's put a pin in that thought and discuss other ideas we can try together". Now I tell the truck "Go!" and it responds "OK!". I started at Green 9 and for now have settled on Red 5. I jumped around a little between Red 5 and Red 9 but for now I will keep it on Red 5 and see how I feel after some more seat time.

Calculated MPG before installation was 16.9. If I see any significant change I will report back. The real test will be to let the wife drive it and see her reaction.

I'm glad you tried it because a lot of people who say it's a waste of money and just press the pedal harder don't seem to realize that you cannot mimic the function of a Sprint Booster/Pedal Commander on foot alone. It's not as simple as pressing harder. There is a manufacturer generated limitation on how quickly the throttle body can respond to drive-by-wire on foot alone. SB/PC changes this limitation. So far, from a very unscientific survey, about 9 out of 10 people who try it keep it and enjoy it.

I'm going on 2+ years having the Sprint Booster V2 which I prefer and I could not imagine not having it. I can tell immediately when my daughter or someone has driven my truck and shut it off because it's so sluggish. Worth every penny imo.

Awesome. Yep, this is now my best selling item! The lift kits used to be my best selling item, and now this has beat them out.

Burtman Industries Sprint Booster, you can send it back if you don't like it! - You can also call your order in or text with any questions, 717-319-2100

I also have people getting better gas mileage with this, which is an awesome perk.

In addition to the pep it gives the truck, which is very sluggish, I’ve noticed an increase in fuel economy because I no longer have to mash the accelerator down to get my runner to move. The sprint booster gives better pedal responsiveness, and now I have better fuel economy as a result! Worth every penny. Thanks Jason!

I can attest to better fuel mileage. I watch my fuel mileage like a hawk and have a log book dating back to my last 4 vehicles. I live a 4.5 min drive to work so the entire drive to work is done on a pretty cold engine. I also have to drop my kid off to daycare on the way to work so that extends the drive a bit but not much since the daycare is 2 minutes from my house -I've even stopped taking coffee from home and going through the mcdonald's drive thru so the engine gets to temp and alternator gets a chance to do its job. So, a lot of stop and go within a short distance.

I used to get 16.9-17.3 L/100 kms before the sprint booster because of the nature of my commute. I've tried everything too from staying within the eco bar, driving like a grandma, to just driving normally (I won't drive it hard until the engine is properly warmed up so I've never done this... but I doubt this would help my fuel economy on a cold engine). Ever since I installed the Spring Booster, my mileage has dropped to 16.2 L/100kms in the same conditions. This number would only get better if I had a normal commute > 10 minutes with mixed highway and city. I take every opportunity to drive to lunch whenever I can so the runner can stretch its legs.

IMO, with a reasonable acceleration, you spend less time accelerating and more time cruising which equates to better fuel mileage. I think.

I thought this product was a bit hokey/gimmicky, but after trying it out, I could not drive my 4runner without it.

Well, it passed the wife test with flying colors. I asked her to drive my truck to dinner tonight. After pulling out of the driveway and then taking off from the stop sign at the end of our street she says "What's wrong with your truck?" I responded "What do you mean 'what's wrong with it?" To which she said "It doesn't suck to drive anymore" Did Sprint Booster give me more horsepower? No, and I didn't expect it to. Did it dramatically change the driving experience? Absolutely.

Hypertech React

I can not find any info people that have used the Hypertech REACT Off-Road - Part #105500. I talked to a tech there and he said the Off-Road react would be the one that he would suggest for most all 4runner owners. If you have one please respond.

Ok, that's GOOD FEEDBACK! I've been getting emails from quite a few people saying they are getting better mileage and wanted to hear from someone super anal that super knows their truck and is dialed in, and seems be you. That's just too cool that it's helping. I don't sell this or push this part for the gas mileage gains, but maybe I need to mention this more. Thanks for the feedback.

This video makes this easy to understand. YouTube video on sprint booster Watch just the first 3 min.

I'm a dealer for Hypertech and can get you this too, around same price as the Sprint Booster, BUT, the SB is proven and there doesn't need to be multiple versions. It's one unit that does all. Remember, the SB is a patented unit, and there are now over 5 other companies that have tried to copy the secret sauce and they can't get it down. The others just don't do as good a job.

Installed mine today. I've got mine on Sport 8 right now, seems like about the right setting. I haven't used it much on the highway yet but based on what I see so far it will be much better passing at highway speeds.

One note, I put in the connector to the pedal backwards and got a couple of errors. So I put the factory plug back in and still errors. So I waited 30+ minutes and the errors were gone so I put in the SB correctly this time and all good. Not sure if you have to wait 10 minutes or 30 minutes for it to automatically reset.

Also, for those who put the controller on one of the empty switch covers to the left of the steering wheel, did you route it around the bottom so that the wire is exposed or drill a hole through the switch cover and feed the wire though? I am sure this has been answered but I can't find it easily.

Hate to be the less enthusiastic respondant here, but keeping it real...

I bought Sprint Booster for my 2018 4runner because like many here I do not like the stock mushy pedal response when overtaking on freeway or in passing situations on those long stretches of single lane roads behind slow moving camper, etc.

I still have not spent much time exploring the effects in various conditions or playing around with various device settings but to be real, the settings are all ultra slight variations on the same theme. That theme is immediate full throttle response which will propel you quicker into those passing/overtaking situations but so far in my observation this immediate response benefit is at the cost of somewhat erratic over-revving in unintended circumstances and also erratic shifting of the automatic transmission which are present regardless of the booster settings unless disabled entirely of course.

Verdict after week 3.... If you want a more punchy throttle response to accelerate more quickly whether for passing or for whatever other reason and are willing to part with a few hundred $$$ then buy it like I did. It is minimal, super easy to install and well put together. However if you hope for the punch in combination with maintaining a finely tuned revving and shifting performance then you might not be happy. I will keep it regardless just for the passing responsiveness and drive with it off most the time except when approaching a passing situation in which case I would press the booster button to enable a stored green 9 and punch it to pass after which disabling it again.

Again this is just my experience and honest opinion.... I bought this after following this thread and others here seem to love it so won't discount their opinions. However they often report superb performance all around and even improved gas mileage (on theory you don't have to mash pedal as much) neither of which I experienced. These rave reviews are met with repeated reinforcement by a genuinely helpful vendor of the product who admittedly benefits from the sale of these on the forum. You may realize the performance and benefits these others speak of however I want to give a fair review of my own which is not to say the booster is bad... just that it is not THAT great in my experience.

Hope this helps some of you.

Cheers - JC

You have found out what I've said all along - there is no free lunch.

Also - perhaps somebody can explain how this magical increase in gas mileage is possible.

I have to add that i'm not taking it easy on the gas either -I'm not hammering it off the line, but by no means am I nursing the throttle. I'm accelerating at an assertive pace that usually puts a little bit of distance between myself and the traffic behind me. So, the fuel mileage drop has been effortless as I'm not doing anything to warrant a lower fuel mileage -it's just happening as a pure coincidence with me enjoying the responsiveness of the throttle.

I want to trade 4runners with my wife (she has a v8 4th gen) just to see how the fuel mileage changes with a longer commute -she drives 25 minutes each way to/from work with mixed highway and city. But I really like my 4runner so I won't haha

Also - perhaps somebody can explain how this magical increase in gas mileage is possible.

In my anecdotal/empirical experience, with a more sensitive throttle, I spend less time accelerating and therefore more time cruising.

The "faster" acceleration may mean that you reach a taller gear sooner and spend less time accelerating a large mass from a stop/slower speed.

I just have a bunch of guesses, but what I can tell you is that I've tried for 4-5 months trying to get better mileage out of my vehicle given my commute and nothing that I tried has worked. I've been able to nurse better mileage on my previous vehicles (Jeep srt, Subaru sti, v6 manual accord) via driving habits, but for whatever reason, my 2018 SR5 did not want to cooperate. It did not cooperate until I installed the sprint booster.

I wonder if the gas mileage increases when you have 285's.... Something to do with it kicking into a lower hear or staying in a lower gear longer.

So far so good on mine. The immediate acceleration is what it should be from the factory. I need to more highway time which I'll get in the next few days.

Still wondering if people drill a hold in one of the empty switch ports or route it underneath like Jason Koerge did in his YouTube video.

Ha! She's funny. When some people order these they say to me, I don't know if my wife will notice, well, they will, and that's a GOOD thing in this case.

Ordered one, Thanks Jason, can't wait to get er in

Sweet, yep, you'll have soon. Anyone else wanting, go HERE:
