Sputtering while acceleratin

I’ve been noticing the last few days while I accelerate, the engine starts to sputter. Could this be caused by a plugged catalytic converter or should I be checking to replace the spark plugs and wires? Thanks for any guidance.

While you're out, you may want to pick up a fuel filter. Certainly couldn't hurt and may cause stumbling during acceleration. Part of a maintenance "package".

Good luck. :moping:

Before we start throwing out a laundry list parts order, let's get a little more info...

By "sputtering" do you mean popping and cracking? Sporadically losing power? Is it constant or intermittent? Dependent on going up/down hill? Are there any other symptoms?

Oops, too late... After all I did say: "While your out..."

But additional information may provide fore a more precise diagnosis as to the root cause of the "sputtering during acceleration". I would only caution against a overly lengthy "laundry list" of symptoms as it may increase the number of suggested fixes exponentially.

Just (only) trying to help. :uzi:

Thanks guys. I installed a new fuel filter but the sputtering was still there. I did the "Seafoam" treatment, changed ther oil/oil filter and installed new plugs and wires. After all of this it cleared up the problem and purrs like a kitten. Thanks again!!!
