Squeal/Squeak

Ok so odd one here... I have an opinion, but I wanted to see if I was thinking along the right lines...

I intermittently get a squeaking/squealing sound that STOP when the brake is APPLIED. It just started happening (had the rig for 2 months). It happened, I went into a party and when I came out it didn't happen when I started driving again. However, when I get home (30 minute trip) I could hear it again. This morning I didn't hear it at all (sub 10 minute drive to work).

Any thoughts?

First thing I would check is the thickness of the brake pads. You could be having the wear indicator intermittently dragging on the rotor, and when you apply the brakes it shifts the pad just enough to make it stop. Not normally the way it works, but that's where I'd start since the vehicle is new to you with perhaps an unknown service record.

Also could be dust under the pads.
