Squeals when cold

Anybody had this one yet? After a cold start I get a high pitch squeal when engaging the power steering and while accelerating. Not super loud, but loud enough to hear with the windows down. Thinking maybe a loose belt. Appointment booked at the dealer, but wanted to throw it out to the forum so I can be armed with some knowledge. Thanks.

P.S. Doesn't get really cold here overnight. Maybe 50 deg. Present even after the truck sits for a couple of hours during the day.

Dealer couldn't duplicate the whine from the power steering after leaving it overnight. I waited a few hours for it to cool off then went over and demonstrated the noise for them. Mechanic said it is probably "normal." I disagreed and we started a new 4Runner on the lot. The new one obviously made no noise, but the dealer remains unconvinced.
Seems cut and dry to me. They want to get a tech from big toyota to come down and make the final call.
I feel this isn't necessary, seeing as the noise was verified by the mechanic and service manager. Do I need to play along here or demand that it be investigated immediately?

Ultimately the Tech from "Big Toyota" will make the call anyways so you might as weel go along with it for the time being. You generally get farther with dealerships if you smile and act nice even when they insist on doing re****ed stuff.

Wait and see what happens. You can always start a fight if the Tech says it's normal.

I see you're in California - so when you say "cold", its not REALLY cold.

My 2010 saw -30 degrees Celsius during our Canadian winter and never experienced this squeal you describe.

I say loose belt.
