SR5 17" Wheel Same SPEC as TE 17" ???

Can anyone confirm this. I know you can run 285s on the TE 17" wheel. But...i aint go no TE. I just need to confirm that the 285s will fit my 2013 SR5 wheels.

if they do not I will be buying the BFG KM2 255/80R17 but I would prefer a quieter tire.

Also I notice that there are a few people running the 285s with no lift, and a bunch on aftermarket wheels. Am I correct in assuming that they are NOT using wheel spacers with the 285s?

I am looking at the same thing except I also have the FJ steelies that are 7.5 inches wide. I am looking at the 285/70/17 Duratracs...will I need wheel spacers to make these fit a stock SR5?

SR5 = 17 x 7 rim. TE = 17 x 7.5 rim. Most tire manufacturers recommend minimum rim width of 7.5 inches with 285 tire.
Many have put 285/70 on stock rims, no lift with no rubbing. Some have had rubbing but fixed it by moving the inner liner. Definately no wheel spacers (unless you mean lift spacers). I have 17 x 8, 0 offset rims with 285/70. With Toytec (Bilstein 5100s) at about 2 inches, no rubbing. Put on 1 1/4" wheel spacers, big time rubbing at full turn. Ended up doing a body mount chop. Very, very easy to chop with cut off wheel. I have no welder and no welding skills so I have not "plated" it yet. I'm not a big fan of using wheel spacers but so far, no issues. Truck actually rides better, has less lean and the vehicle stability thing does not go off any more on weeny curves. When my tires wear down I'm going to 17 x 9 rims with no spacers. At least now I know for sure they will fit with 285s. Tempted to put on 305/65s but I think they will rub a little.

I stay in Hawaii too. Just ordered some 17x8 0mm offset rims for stock sized toyo at IIs. contemplating the bilstein 5100 but not sure about what I wanna do....so sticking with stock now. You got any pics of your truck?
 
I agree with 1engineer, but I will add something useful to this post. I run 285/70/17 load range E tires on my SR5 (7" wide) wheels and haven't had a issue. I did rub before my lift but not since I installed it. I will be going to 17x9 when I have the chance but I enjoy spending my money on things that go boom more...

You did not read my entire post. I know they fit the TE. I needed to know if they fit the SR5. I searched it and came up wanting. I always use the search tool. that is the primary reason I have so few "posts started by toy2g", before I ask, I search.

I did however get the answer I was looking for, so i just went and bought a set of 5 TE wheels and 5 Cooper Discovery AT/M LT285/70R17

I ran FJ steel with 285/70/17 bfg KOs Load E before lifting and it fit with some mild rubbing on the plastic piece that covers the body mount. Still rubbed a bit post-lift, but it's fine since i removed the plastic pieces inside the fender well behind the wheel. It works great for me.

to answer your question directly the wheels are different but 285s will fit and perform just fine on SR5 wheels..... MANY have done it

Thank you for the simple answer. Sadly, with so many people confirming the TE wheels, I went and bought a full set of 5 yesterday and they are being installed today.

so........you need a set of 265/70R17 on SR5 Wheels with 870 miles on them??? :jk:

There are FIVE (5) (cinco - spanish for 5) (funf - that's german for 5) different posts in the link I posted that say people are running 285's on 7" rim which is the width of the SR5 rim. The link also states that width is below min spec for a 285. I read your entire post.

I do apologize to you mr.founderoftheinternetforum if you wish I will resign my forum membership and sponsorship today. And thank you for chiming in to let me know you are way better at the interwebs than I am.

If you notice, I was in a hurry, within an hour of the post I had bought tires (285/70R17) and wheels (TE 4Runner 7.5"). I needed an answer fast and the search result for "285 SR5 5th" Did not really help except I learned they will fit on the TE.

No worries, I found the answer I needed, I bought what I wanted, and the forum is still alive and thriving.

Bump this one!

I just bought the 2011 SR5 Premium, I have already 285/70s from my old FJ, so it should fit? 285/70s on stock SR5 17s with no lift? My lift should be here in two weeks.
