SR5 climate control manual temperature control dial

In my truck 2002 SR5, it has started blowing hot air regardless of what position the temperature mix dial is set at. But...

If it's sat overnight and the AC was on cold and the dial is set to cold it will start up and eventually start blowing hot air (when the engines warm). When I notice it's hot not cold, I can simply turn the dial from cold to hot to cold again and it will blow cold.

Lately I have to do that more frequently when driving to get it to blow cold.

What I don't understand is if there is a servo or other controlling the hot water valve or the air mix? If it's simply the cable I'm cornfused as it would be purely manual and would work fine.

I have searched our forums and others for a solution and was unable to find something similar to my situation.

The 01/02 SR5 AC system is at least partially electronic (not fully auto), unlike the earlier base/SR5 AC controls. That would explain the wonkiness.

Hopefully somebody has a good idea for a fix. It might be simple, like re-soldering a few components.
