SSO High Clearance problems?

1 or 2 people reporting problems vs. the amount of winglets they sold, means a pretty low failure rate.

I haven't had any problems associated with my set, and would purchase it again. The wings give it a more finished look at the edges, and bottom. Whether or not that is worth the extra greenbacks is up to the end user.

Have you even read this thread? OP stated he is getting “movement” on his SSO kit.

In addition, SSO is charging $329 for something you can do yourself for $10

For real? I've been on this thread from pretty early on and in no post did anyone mention that the winglets, bent and or had a broken weld. Additionally the movement mentioned has been noted to be consistent with other full steel bumpers.

If noise was considered to be a failure, no one would run AT/ Mud tires, roof racks or light bars.

SSO is not charging $300 + for edge stripping and cutting instructions, Pretty sure they charge around $15 for that. They are charging for the winglets and since I don't have the equipment or fab time and space to make my own... $300 or so isn't out of the question.

Get your facts straight before you try to bite some ones head off, otherwise you just end up looking stupid.

Yea but you can do your own "fabrication" for $10 - I get their point you can have similar practical results without the winglets but while the winglets may not be a jackpot they certainly offer more then just trimming the plastic bumper

That said - I still have not installed mine, on the never ending to-do list

Fair enough....I will stand by my $10 clearance mod however. The SSO kit is a solution to a non existent problem IMO, and people are just butthurt they spent $350+ with shipping for something that could be done for $10 and a dremel.

You feel the bumper is stable at highway speeds? What about automatic car washes? I’m with you on the your modification, same looks without the hefty price tag.

The wings themself are pretty solidly built. I just chalk it up to an aftermarket part. We all know about aftermarket parts (it’s not factory) so therefore there could always be an issue. I don’t regret buying it, the noise it puts off just isn’t for me.

What was SSO's take on the issue? Did they have any ideas?

Are you selling the bumper too or just the high clearence part?

I have not called them with the issue. As far as I know I’m one of the few that’s complaining. I will he selling just the wings.

Gotcha. They seem like a great company so I'd at least see what they have to say.

Zero issues at high speeds...I don’t use auto car washes....the fender is still bolted in several places where stability isn’t an issue. Several people (see below) on IG, I have spoken with report zero issues as well. Again, the SSO kit is a failed solution to a non-existent problem.

I dig it, man. Yes, auto car washes will give us scratches and even possible damages. But, my 4Runner is full of scratches from the trails. So I don’t care. I had no idea people were just cutting the bumper that way. I was under the impression SSO started the style.
