Stainless muffler?

I did a search and didn't really find what I was looking for. Has anybody found a stainless direct fit replacement muffler? The original muffler is almost shot on my 97 SR5 with 198K on it I want to just put a standard muffler back on it, nothing performance oriented.

The local parts stores only carry the aluminized ones that don't last. I hate to spend money on something that is only going to last for a year or two though so i was hoping to find something made of mild stainless.

My TRD exhaust is stainless, but they are pricey. I got mine used from a friend for a great deal.

OUCH, wish I could justify it. I don't really care what the brand is, I am not looking for great sound or increased horsepower, I just want my 4Runner to remain quiet :biggrin2:

They must charge more in my area, I put my zip code in and it says $248

That may still be my best choice though.

For some reason RockAuto doesn't specify that it's stainless. It is. I put one on my sisters rig last year. You want the Walker 55054. It's a QuietFlowSS.

I put a Dynomax Ultra Flo stainless steel muffler on my '97 4Runner, when it was a week old.

The model number I used is 17287.

It basically just involved cutting the pipe on either side of the stock muffler, and welding the Ultra Flo right into place, and welding some new hangers to the back of it.

It has a deeper tone, and is slightly louder than stock. But it's not obnoxious.
