Stainless Steel Brake Lines

Anyone switch to SS Lines? If so, what brand and did it make a noticeable difference in the squishy brake pedal?

Installed stainless brake lines, both the hard lines and braided hoses, on my ‘99 K2500 Suburban diesel. Did it because the galvanized line were rusting, which was a known problem. They made no discernible difference in brake pedal feel.

I installed StopTech lines on my 4runner, but really didn't notice a lot of difference, however, I only did 4 out of the 6 lines, so maybe if all were done you might notice it a little more.

I've noticed just changing all the brake fluid out gives a better pedal feel than the brake line change. It depends on the age of the vehicle.

I suggest replacing the lines if they're old and not in great shape (rust, etc), or if you're lifting it and want longer brake lines anyway. It's good to do it at the same time as new brakes, then change out all the fluid as well.

Thank you all for the replies. I didn't think it would make a big difference but I was hoping 20 or 30 people would tell me how great they were and send me in that direction.

I'm due a brake job and I'll flush the lines.

When I did my brakes I did buy the stoptech lines but ended up not putting them in since it seemed to not be worth the trouble. I had found that the OEM lines are rubber but the inside is kevlar lined, so there is no flex like older rubber lines. I will change them out once my rubber lines get older and look like they are compromised.

There would not really be any improvement in pedal feel, just possibly long term reliability.
