Stainless Steel Lines and ATE Typ200 Fluid here next week.

Just got off the phone with Stop Tech after ordering my front and rear set of Stainless steel lines and new dot4 fluid for the 4runner. I hope that this not only helps with overall pedal feel, which it most certainly should but will be an added margin of safety when towing from now on. The search still continues for upgraded pads though

I think the brakes on the 4runner are awesome as it is. I wonder how much of a performance difference the SS lines will have.

So give us the details. How much, specs etc. Pics when you get them too

The Typ200 was 10.75 a quart (i got 3)

the lines look just like any other lines but should look something like these

As for improvments, i can say that from having other cars that went from no Stainless lines to stainless, they provided better extreme braking performance with better pedal (harder) feel and modulation.

The lines we like 86 for the rear and 56 for the front and the install is going to be about 100 bucks from my local dealer. So for about 300 bucks, ill have the just about all the improvments of a Big brake kit for 1/10th the price. Im still looking for quality pads that will not only provide better pedal modulation but will still maintain good cold characteristics but also will provice higher overall pad operating temps with the same to less amounts of dust than the OEM pads

Yeah I installed a set on my 93 celica and it did make improvements when I had to "stand" on the brakes. But since I've driven the 4Runner and I've had to only do 1 panic stop, it behaved SO well!!

Now granted, my Celica didn't have ABS and daul piston calipers on the front so it isn't an even comparison.

I like it when people start messing around with the brake system rather than trying to squeeze a few more ponys out of the engine. I like the engine as it is and the brakes are far more important IMO. Good job and thanks for the info.

i totally understand....im a very balanced car builder. I know that with my previous m5 i spent the money to get the absolute best brake system i could for it ($10K) where as the sister car to mine felt that his brakes were just fine....fine is not gonig to cut it on a 1100hp car.

Ill do my best on the pics, althoguh i cant guarantee anything though.
