I noticed a common problem among my 4Runner and my parents GX470 and 4Runner. If you turn the key to the on position (I know it is bad for the vehicle but sometimes you have to check the gas level w/o actually starting), the truck will stall out the next time you go to start it. On all 3 of these trucks, the starter will crank and the engine will sound like it is turning over. In a matter of 2 seconds, the truck will stall. After you turn the key to off and start again, they will fire up without a problem. I know this is not a problem since it has happening on all of our vehicles. Does anybody know why this occurs? I am just curious to know what can actually cause this. No other vehicle I have driven did this.
