Standard flooded group 34 charging needs

I put a standard flooded type group 34 Duracell ultra in my GFs 2016 4Runner. Do I need to worry about supplemental charging due to the alternator not putting out enough power for a G34? I know when discussing AGM G34’s people used to suggest adding that “resistor” fuse thing to trick it into charging more, or they’d throw on a CTEK once a week. Any merit to that? Do 4Runners with a tow package have a stronger alternator? That’s apparently the case with the Tacoma. Since my GF started driving my 4Runner and I got my Tacoma I’ve fallen out out of touch with the community a bit. Not sure what the general consensus is.

If I could have found an odyssey agm group 34 in stock anywhere near me (or any agm 34 for that matter) I’d have thrown that in the Tacoma and put my stock battery (2021) in her runner.

A standard lead acid battery shouldn't need any additional modifications to the best of my knowledge. The reason most people, myself included, add a resistor to increase alternator voltage is because AGM batteries typically require a minimum of 14.0v to charge properly. The new battery you're using should charge normally with the stock alternator and voltage regulator configuration.
 
Thanks! Good to know I didn’t know it was just the fact that it was an AGM. It actually didn’t have anything on it that I saw indicating it needed to be charged at 14.x volts.

Now I just need to get a 34 agm for my taco and figure out if I need to boost the voltage.

From what he's said and what I found on the battery he purchased, he does not have an AGM battery, so he should have no issues charging with the stock charging setup.

Yeah mine is just a FLA, not an agm. I think you’re correct.
