starter advice/help

Hey, everyone - Curious on what ya'll would do or recommend. Definitely have starter contacts bad. Battery hook up terminal is pretty nasty as well (to the bottom side of the starter). Been doing lots of research on this topic and have the "1 click" when key is turned. I can get it to start but have to hold the key turned for a second and the starter will get going. I know that's not good on it, but it's the way it is for the moment. I'd much rather do the contact rebuild kit if possible. Everyone says the Denso OEM starter is bulletproof and I would prefer to agree with that. When I sunk the thing in the mud pit of doom, pretty sure that thing sat in the muddy stream underwater overnight. The problem didn't begin until after the tranny was replaced and it had sat for a while. I'd prefer do this repair once if possible. I'd hate to do the contacts/rebuild, then find out later that I truly disproved it's bulletproof reputation. What do ya'll think? Rebuild kit, buy a re-manned from the auto store or really eat it and get a new OEM from Toyota? Money is an issue as I've already stretched myself pretty thin repairing this truck from the incident. It does need to be dealt with very soon. Thanks for any advice/help -
Andy
