starter always engaged

As soon as I put the red terminal on battery, the starter wants to start the vechile....I replaced ignition, had starter off...seems to be no issues...plunges in and out...seems to be fine.....
With the ground on battery I have power and stuff but soon as touch red on positive ....she wants to take off....
any ideas...really lost!!

Starter relay may be stuck (or fried) in the on position. Bench test the relay to see if it is good.

You need 12vdc supply (from battery) and a volt meter.

Most relays have its wiring diagram printed on them or your shop manual will have the diagram.

Applying 12v to the coil part of the relay will activate the electromagnet allow current to flow to the starter.

Once you have the relay out post a close up pic of it and we can show you the contacts and how to test it.
