Starter Extraction

Just got a 92 V-6. Its going to be a project.

First order of business was to replace some contacts in the Soleniod

After getting the dang thing out, I replaced the contacts in the solenoid and on recommendation of local parts store guru dude, burnished the contact side of the little disc thingy too(whats this really called? plunger?) .

Anyway to the point of my post. While replacing the contact that comes from the drive the rubber covering at the end of the wire disintegrated into dust.

Is there a replacement for this little minute but crucial detail? Or can I just goop on some electrical grade sealant over it and call it good?

BTW.....
Let me just say , I hope this is as hard as i gets because it was not easy to get that starter out. The 4 sentances worth of instruction in the Haynes manual are a joke compared to the reality of what it took to extract it.
