Starter issue

Hey guys need some help, i have a new 4 month old starter and just yesterday i went to go start my yota after a really good mud run car wash, and got nothing but a single click. Shut it off, tried again. Nothing. Just a single click. After about 4 times of doing that it starts like normal on the 5th try. Sometimes it will be stubborn and i have to use the old "hit the starter" trick and it works. But as of 2 days later it still wont turn over. Just makes a single click. Is it possible theres water damage? Also on another note, after the wash my rear hatch will not open nor my roll down window. I made sure the child safety lock was not engaged and it wasnt. Like the starter i have gotten it to work a couple times. Its like it works when it wants to. Could this be a computer issue? Both of these issues happened after the car wash. Any help is greatly appreciated

Have you gotten your battery tested lately? Sounds similar to an issue I was having and it turns out my battery wasn't charging right due to some mods I had put on.

I have a brand new battery, i put it in the same time when i bought the starter. New battery cables as well. It was working great before that car wash

COULD BE MUD DEBRIS IS interfering with the starter solenoid moving .

when tapping the starter it then moves.

clicking and the lights do not dim means the solenoid is not contacting
the starter motor feed high power contacts.

if the lights dim that can be a battery/wiring /connections etc..

I had this issue after going through high water. It would click several times and start. After testing the battery, alternator and loose connection, I narrowed it down to the starter. It ended up to be the starter contacts. Mine was old but If water mud debris got inside preventing the proper contact, you will have the clicking sound. I would pull the starter and clean the contacts. There are write ups and youtube how to clean or change the starter contacts.

I had this issue after going through high water. It would click several times and start. After testing the battery, alternator and loose connection, I narrowed it down to the starter. It ended up to be the starter contacts. Mine was old but If water mud debris got inside preventing the proper contact, you will have the clicking sound. I would pull the starter and clean the contacts. There are write ups and youtube how to clean or change the starter contacts.

Excellen ill be cleaning it when i get home. Ill post an update if i have any luck!
